JGS Reamers

Up until a few weeks ago, I had zero experience buying reamer. I wanted to have my own, so I spoke to my gunsmith about it. He gave me the information I needed and told me to contact JGS. Grant at JGS was very accommodating and communication with him was excellent. My order was easy to place. Now all I have to do is wait for the finished product.

I had back to back PTG reamers that were not correct. No bashing it is just what happened to me.

I started using JGS and no issues. Grant is great to work with. I give him a print "same as but" and he responds with the corrected print to approve. I place the order and get it when promised.

I wish every business would be as good to work with as JGS.

No Clymer? New owner

I've bought a few things from them. I had some trouble with sizing issues on a throater, and again on some bushings, but they were quick and courteous in correcting the issue. They seem to be geared more towards SAMMI spec reamers, vs customs. The 6.5creed reamer I got from them may be the nicest cutting reamer I own, and there headspace gages are very well priced also.

i guess that my wait times will be short based on "all" you buying elsewhere.

I have 11 PTG reamers, 1 Henriksen and 1 JGS......... Never a problem with any of them..... Had to make multiply calls to Hugh to get the reamer done, but this is his MO.

I have bought several PTGs over the years. My last was probably 10 years ago and it was very good. Was super happy. After a less than wonderful parts purchase (got what I wanted but it took several weeks with zero commo from them) I tried JGS for my new 284Win reamer. Very easy to talk to someone know actually knows what a reamer is, no issue when I called back and changed a measurement and added a smaller pilot bushing. Delivered early. Super happy.

We did notice the sound the reamer makes when it cuts is different. I can't explain it, kind of "squealy". I am certainly no gunsmith so I assume it has to do with the flute design, or something along those lines. It cut a really nice chamber though, I cannot wait for it to get above freezing so I can start load development.

How's JGS's lead time?

In my case, one reamer was on the shelf and went out that afternoon. The second reamer was special needs and I was given an 8 week turnaround time.

We are at 8 weeks for custom reamers right now. We try to keep the standards on the shelf, or in production, so the lead times on the standards should be shorter.
