JGS Reamers

PTG makes a plethora of products that we all have asked for. That is not including what it furnished for industry. You can't do that without some problems.
I have not had any problems with any of the reamer makers mentioned except Manson and that's because I haven't used his yet. I'll eventually get around to sending some business his way.
Though I sympathize with those that have had problems with PTG I still believe our fraternity has and will continue to benefit from the products they provide.

This thread causes me to repeatedly bite my tongue about the unethical last business dealing I had with one of the manufacturers...and I do mean last. To be clear, since JGS is mentioned in the thread title, I'm not speaking of them.

Everyone should look at business ethics, as well as quality of product, when choosing where to send their money.

I'm no gunsmith and none that I've hired have had any issues with either companies reamers so I will not comment on good, bad or ugly. I will say PT&G make very good products for firearms and hope they continue to do so. If I get a bad deal by a company, I speak with them and they typically make it right, therefore no need to drag them thru the rhetical mud pit. If I don't get done right, let the mud bog begin. I don't blame people for being honest about a company but if a company makes it right, let it go and give them another shot. That's the best way I know how to handle it. I don't like burning bridges if I don't have too.

Keith Francis was the best, imho. When Jim Cuthbert bought him out the service and quality did not suffer. How many places will make you a 22-378 AI two reamer set and go/no-go gauges without a special fee and a long lead time?

:D

I feel the best reamers are those made by Hugh Henriksen. They are like steel jewels. Second best, and it's a close call, is JGS. I have often wondered about the relationships with the Oregon reamer-makers. Starting with Francis, most seem to have, at some point, worked with or for each other. All bushings interchange. WH

just to show you
i have a bunch of ptg reamers mostly custom. no issues in about 20 years.
i had one jgs reamer, my first custom and the reamer did not match the print.
guess why i always buy ptg ?

You may be the luckiest person on the planet. I have had nothing but trouble with most every PTG reamer that I own. JGS or Manson from here on out. Very knowledge and great customer service from both. Can't say the same about PTG. Just sad at this point.

I really have no idea why you or anybody else would buy PTG reamers in the last few years. Maybe you are the second luckiest person in the world. Lol.:);):p

Up until a few weeks ago, I had zero experience buying reamer. I wanted to have my own, so I spoke to my gunsmith about it. He gave me the information I needed and told me to contact JGS. Grant at JGS was very accommodating and communication with him was excellent. My order was easy to place. Now all I have to do is wait for the finished product.

one of their reamers was use to build a dasher a couple years back.
it won a national...such a poor reamer.
