Jewell trigger issue

Im with butch- are you using some kind of rimfire tuner? This sounds dangerous- what if it comes halfway off and you get a bullet strike? Where is your f class match this next weekend?

The tuner is a clamp on Time Precision Supertuner.. I used to use it in the old days on my 220 Swift. it used to clamp on and I had no issues with it. I put it on my Dasher and ended up having to make a threaded adapter and JB welded it on the adapter. I have a second tuner so I made another threaded adapter for my 300 Weatherby ten thousands bigger figuring that would help. I have my Dasher shooting smaller groups with the tuner than it did when I won the Nationals with it. I was hoping to tune out some of the vertical in my 300 Weatherby.

The F class match is over by Bismarck North Dakota next weekend. I have never shot F class before..... it should be a comedy of errors.

Question: Having never used a Jewell Trigger and reading about using brake cleaner, acetone, mineral spirits, etc., I have yet to read about anyone re-oiling their triggers after cleaning. Do Jewell Triggers operate without oil ??? Seems to me that a very light oil with no varnish in it would be recommended.

No oil on triggers -- it attracts and holds dirt and grit. Flood the trigger with lighter fluid, let it dry, and shoot.

I think this is similar to others, but just in case.

Brand new Remington 700 with a Jewell BR trigger. Break-in shots 1 thru 40, all is well. After that, about 20% of the time, after I push the bolt forward while chambering a round, the trigger won't "go off." If I raise, then lower the bolt it will work.

This never happens in dry fire, only when chambering a round. Suggestions????

If the suggestion is to clean w/ lighter fluid, does that mean remove the stock and squirt it down there or should I go the next step and remove the trigger assembly from the gun?

Thanks.

I blanked a primer in my Stiller Tac 30 6.5x47 a while back and it wouldnt cock,,took apart and cleaned and it would work sometimes and then just quit,,when I took it apart the 2nd time pieces fell out different than the first time,,more than likely the sear was cracked the first time and then broke with use ,,
I sent it in to Jewell and they fixed the trigger and shipped it back for 50$$,,

trigger is near 20 years old and has been on 7-8 different rifles and somewhere around 25K rounds,,
I blanked a primer on a 204 about 10 years ago and it didnt seem to hurt it but I did have to clean and readjust it then and when I blanked the primer on the 6.5 the sear broke,,

I didnt have any trouble with Jewells customer service at all,,just sent it in and they fixed it,,but if you ever blank a primer or have case head seperation and the pressure releases through the bolt and trigger group it is very possible something is cracked at least and probably broken,,

I think the ones with a safety are more prone to break than the BR models without a safety,,
pic of mine with broken sear,
