JEEP Vehicles in Winter

IMG_0107.jpeg
I don’t drive mine in the winter and I really don’t think I would want to, but it is a hoot to tool around in when the weather is nice!! 2002 straight 6 , 5 speed.

No ducks here and don’t want them.

I've been on the Jeep Cherokees for about twenty years now. Never had anything close to a new one though. They seem to be a cut above the standard "soccer mom" SUVs. I've hauled a few elks out of the roadless scab rock des that we hunt in. Haven't broke one yet. I do some stupid things, but try not to do them in stupid ways.:p

These new jeeps look pretty sexy, but my God, the prices on them!! I refuse to buy a vehicle that costs more than my house. jd

I had a 2012 4 door Wrangler. 1.5 inch lift with all new linkages and a slightly larger than stock all terrain. It was the best vehicle I ever owned for driving around town, and having fun in every season. It did suck on the highway, as in, even with new ball joints, etc it felt dangerous hitting a small pothole at 75mph.

It's a true utility vehicle.

I'd like to get another one, but they seem to be predominantly owned by plus-size lesbians who have 427 ducks on the dashboard.

Whatchu talk-in about, Willis, we have 5 counting the kids, and only one of them has ducks on the dashboard.

Lousy heaters, lifted jeeps handle like crap for the most part, not much room inside either. Get the right tires and they go about anywhere though.
I won't argue the likes/dislikes blah blah blah of jeep ownership.

As for the heater though...not sure what heater you had. My heater in my 2013 is a freaking furnace. Hottest heater in a vehicle I have ever owned. I live in michgian heater is used 10 months a year.

Exactly. I hate driving my CJ on icy surfaces.. lockers front and rear on ice = no bueno. Takes most of the fun out of a fun run. Once its off pavement and in the snow the fun begins.

Mines good on ice, I run the Yokohama geolanders with sipping . I can stop on an ice cover hill and back up no problem. I don’t get crazy on the throttle though.
Mud terrains are terrible on ice.. wrong compound

The Geolander is an underrated tire. I had them on a Ford Ranger years ago and was impressed with their versatility.

Only Jeep I had or used was My Uncles ! US Army model.

As for Winter Driving !! I live in Fly over Oregone. Subaru is the in Vehicle ...( Add states Largest Dealership)
If you open the glove box there is a decal? It states" You are Now Invincible ".

If I had a $ for everyone up on a Snow Bank ! Who knows.

I have had jeeps all my life, my first one was a CJ-5 with a 3 on the floor V-8. Here is my current jeep a 2020 diesel with 4.5“ lift on 37”s. I am running RCV axles, Reed knuckles, Dynatracs ball joints, heavy duty steering.

76 CJ7 with a soft top.. I get to scrape ice on both sides of the windshield.
I had the same. Not sure if the heater was particularly poor or just no insulation. Anywhere. The biggest snow of my life here in MO was 1982. I was 18 years old and bullet proof in the ole CJ.
Of course she was named Jessica. Robert Ruark would have it no other way.

I got rid of my SxS and bought a cheap ass Jeep Liberty to get to my shooting range. I need 4 wheel drive not all wheel.. Wife didn't like the manual transmission so I got a nicer one, automatic, leather. I worked on high end European cars all my life, always drove em. 1st, both those liberties have the best, and fastest heat of ANY car I've ever experienced. 2nd, with the right tires, it is unbelievable on snow, ice, and mud. 3rd, it's the worst riding vehicle I've ever owned, and I've owned A LOT. 4th, it gets the same mileage as my 3/4 ton Suburban 6.0. Funny thing, it was just supposed to replace the ATV now we find ourselves taking it when it's crappy out. Wish they never got rid of the 4.0L 6, awesome engine.

My TJ soft top had seats that cantilevered forward. I thought that was odd until the first time it rained real good. Wet-a** was standard equipment in the purchase price lol.

My 2001 Cherokee. 4 liter inline six, auto transmission, 1-1/2" lift, 33 inch tires. Over 175,000 miles with nothing but regular maintenance items done to it, uses no oil, and has no leaks - one of the most trouble-free vehicles I have ever owned. Goes anywhere in any terrain.

1st picture - setting out in the back drive
2nd picture - performing duty as a portable shooting platform.
