J-B Weld

Just make sure you use the regular, slowest curing JB, not the 5 minute. Also, Devcon plastic steel epoxy in the double syringe works.
Indeed. I have some here already from another repair job. it is the original 15/24hr cure time, 4/6hr set time. Haven't seen the Devcon syringe anywhere local.

I now have time so I may just order more grey Marine-Tex. I have experience with that.

JB works just fine, too. My last bedding job with MarinTex, I got a couple bubble pockets that showed up as I was cleaning up edges with a file, so I put the action back and filled them with Devcon. Worked great. You can see the two different colored epoxies here. I didn't bother with the one in the trigger pocket. Kinda like a pimple on your butt cheek, its annoying and only you know its there.

I started with JB. Worked fine. Went to Devcon 10110, worked fine but it will go bad in a year even in the refrigerator.
Now I'm all about MarineTex. My limited research shows it is the strongest with less shrinkage.

Kiwi natural shoe polish as a release agent. Apply thin, buff to a shine. Slick as snot on a glass doorknob.

Has anyone here used J-B Weld as a bedding material? Don't need other suggestions. I just have never used this before for bedding and looking for feedback on how well it works.
yes, and it works great
Solvent proof and has PLENTY of compressional strength
I can provide backup to show a few Professional Gun makers who use it with Match winning results
-------------
There are more expensive, more desireable compounds such as Marine Tex which people find easier to
...work with, manipulate etc
But the Original JB Weld formula works fine
-------------
I've also tried several locally easy to aquire release agents from Pam to Clear Kiwi Shoe Polish etc
and Johnsons Paste Wax works hands down the best for something easy to get at a local store.

I thought they quit making that stuff.
I forget where I bought mine here locally (be it Ace or Walmart or???)
but it was available, and was only like 9 bucks for a big 'Ol can of it
---------------
The problem I had with other make do with release agents is, it actually seemed to mix in with the JB weld and the JB still stuck to whatever it is you wanted to protect it from
I even tried Silicone Oil??? JB weld still stuck to the other side.
---------------
Edit, just did a Google Search, I may have bought mine before it was discontinued
I see some people selling it online though

It's went the price of powder on Gunbroker!
It must be discontinued
Guys are selling it for $100 a single can on Ebay!
$60 is the cheapest price I found
-------------------------------------------
I read it is made from Carnuba Wax sooooooooooooo
Maybe something like this off Amazon can substitute for $12
One of the reviews states it works as well as Johnsons

I started with Devcon 10110 and it’s thick like peanut butter but they got tall stupid with pricing and as someone mentioned, it will go bad.

I started using Pro-bed 2000 from a recommendation, it’s a little thinner than Devcon but I’ve been very happy with it.
