I've never had the greatest luck with .223 reloadinhg

Update. Spent all day Saturday shooting an F-Class match in the pouring rain. Sunday is sunny so I ran up to the range.

23.5 were the best groups with both primers. The boxes are 2 inches wide.

Nice shooting. I would love to get consistent groups like the BR4 pic in my .223. I just bought a box of 80 gr Berger VLD's and a box of the 70 gr Nosler RDF's to experiment with in the next few weeks

how bad was the 24 with cci's?
i think i would give 23.6/7/8 a try
( btw,,,i think i said primer)

Not awesome. My notes recall some erratic wind when I shot it though. I will refine with .1 increments soon, but i'm happy with this for now.

The 80 gr Bergers are showing promise for me. It is becoming obvious this barrel likes long bullets. I decided to go with a seating length test first. The 23.5 # came from my SMK testing.

Five shot groups seated at .075, .050, .025, and in the lands I chose the 23.5 gr Varget because the SMK 80's seemed to like it when I was playing with them. Primers were Fed 205's (blue box). I may head back to the range later this week to see if the first group was a random fluke and see what it chronos at.
