It's that time of year. Let's see those kills.

That'll be one to remember. I was hoping to have this pistol like 110 Barnes but didn't get as tight of a group. My son shoots those in a ruger ranch 300 blk. I bought the 500 pack of TNT'S for plinking and read quite a few people have successfully harvested deer with them at acceptable ranges.View attachment 1606872

Exit on the forward port side. Lungs and top of the heart pass through. Can't complain with that. Quarter size exit.

Congrats! FWIW, that's not an AR pistol. I'm not complaining. I'm just reminding everyone to make sure they know what they have before posting a pic of it on line.

As far as projectiles go, I would recommend AGAINST anything that uses a 110gr Vmax. I took a decent doe with that load out of a 10.5" upper in 2023 from a distance of about 12 yds. The damage was impressive, but the flight path took a drastic left turn after hitting a rib on the entry side. What should have been a heart shot based on her position, and the point of entry, ended up being a lung/liver shot. It put a 3" hole in the liver, and she only ran about 20 yds, but I'll never hunt with that bullet again.

I've never been able to get any of the other 110gr projectiles to shoot very well from either of my uppers. I'm currently using a 125gr MKZ for my 300 BO load. Accuracy is around 1 moa (not great, but acceptable). I tagged 2 during archery season this year so I didn't get a chance to "field test" it this year. I've been using their 105gr MKZ in my 6.5 Grendel for a few years now, and it has been extremely impressive in both accuracy (1/2 moa or better) and terminal performance out to 300 yds.

Had a pretty great deer season for this guy..

Picked up a pile of brass at the gravel pit where guys like to sight in last minute or do mag dumps

Saw this guy on trail cams a few times, plus other nice bucks

Then he walked into view of my ground blind just after lunch, shot him at 45 yards.

It was only a 1/4 mile from the truck, easy pack out on the game cart

Got him all cut up and will be making burger tonight.

Look into the Hornady 110 gr CX bullet; homogenous copper, reliable expansion, great penetration, near 100% weight retention and typically good accuracy in the .300BO.

Just returned from 10 days at my hunting camp in Georgia. Most of the time I was waiting for a processer to have the meat ready.

On the 2nd day there I took the 8 pt at 233 yards. DRT with my 270. 4th day there and this 9 pt wandered my way. The same 270 did another DRT

Before the 8 pt, between the deer and after the 9 pt, I watched maybe 15-20 other bucks. Some were quite nice but the Georgia limit is two bucks. I never bothered with any of the 10 does that come with the license. The first 8 pt was more than enough meat for the wife and I. Gave the meat from the 9 pt away.

Fun season again.

I though I would do a little bragging. This is Jax, my 11yo nephew. Last Christmas we bought both him and his twin brother a set Savage Axis rifles (300BO). I get to provide the ammo (110gr Barnes TAC-TX) whenever they run out. Throughout the year they have been putting the rifles to good use thinning out wild pigs/hogs in the Texas Hill Country. In fact they are out there now making it safer for vegetarians. Jax is special when it comes to anything outdoorsman, with his dream being to become a game warden.

Friday - this was dinner at deer camp. pork backstraps

This is Saturday's results - 10pt Buck. He hunts by himself in a blind. His hunt started with him having to chase off cattle (BB gun), and then this 10pt buck showed up. It has broken 2 tines in its antlers.

Hadn’t seen a deer until this guy showed up at 1:20 PM today here in Pennsylvania. 9 point with a 19 1/2 inch spread, my biggest one in 50 years of hunting. Between the one I got a couple weeks ago in New York and this one, my freezer is full! 25-06 80 gr TTSX through the boiler room.IMG_4230.jpegIMG_4231.jpeg
