It's that time of year. Let's see those kills.

Got out thursday to chase chukar, me and a buddy both got a hard earned limit, he took 3 so there's only 9 in the photo. My buddy called wednesday night to cancel the hunt as he couldn't get to his place after work to get his hunting gear because of the fire, he was under an evacuation order. I said come on over and we fixed him up with my size 13 boots + 2 pairs of sock for his size 11 feet, sweat pants, hunting shirt, hat, vest, and a Benelli SBE2..... and off we went. perfect day with no wind in the desert !chuk9.jpgchuk10.jpg

2024 Pennsylvania buck killed opening morning

First 40 minutes that rifle was ever in the woods. I snapped that on a different forum earlier in the year. Full custom DWM 1909 Mauser chambered in 7x57. Snagged a west German Zeiss 3-9x36 to put ontop.

Really wanted to find a good traditional for the round, round nose like a partition or woodleigh but they're extinct. Threw 120gr TTSX ontop of some Varget. At 2975fps the performance was excellent as typical. They don't go far when anything rips right across the top of the heart...

NW of Ericson NE. 270 WSM using a 122gr Hammer HHT going about 3450 fps. Ran in 1 1/2 circles and piled up about 25 yards from where I hit him. Notice the near absence of brow tines.....more like mule deer type nubs. Lots of territory overlap with whitetails and mule deer in this area, so I suspect this guy's genealogy is a bit muddied...

That is one BIG Cat. I usually kill a few cats every year but never one that size. Thanks for sharing//....
That's two big cats I have killed now. First one I got two winters ago, a big Tom. I had him mounted and just got him back from the taxidermist a few months ago. Turned out beautifully. Here he is on the wall and in the back of the truck next to a coyote.

I was very busy this season and only sat a couple times after thanksgiving and once again on new years. This guy came out at 25 yards broadside. The string on my current bow snapped and broke a limb so I had to dig my old Mathew’s (20 year old bow) out, swap sights and re-sight it in for the season. He’s my biggest archery buck yet.

Well, I finished out filling the freezers 1/1/25, this is my best buck of the season, we still have til 2/2/25 but I'm done. Killed a little 6 at 400 or so yds, even if I did have to shoot at him 3 times! It was still fun! Shot a coyote at 150 ish, & a coon at 100, shot a little 4 pt at about 60 yds, a doe at 120 ish. Blessed with a long season and plenty of deer here in MS. Oldest daughter shot a nice little 6 for her freezer here on our place, she was happy! All in all it was a great season for us! I may go a couple more times before it closes, but I doubt it. Now for deer season to end so I can try the coyotes before turkey season opens. Have a great evening! Oh, shot all of these with my Browning A Bolt, Bartlein barreled, long action 257 Roberts. That's the 2nd one that fell at an honest 400 yds. I know thats nothing compared to you sniper types! Fur piece for me!
