Its almost here.... (custom 1911 content)

I know this is a forum geared more towards rifles, but we sure enjoy pushing limits here and enjoy finer firearms so I know you guys and gals will dig this.

It's an accuracy X built for me for long range shooting. I wanted a frame mounted rail that would accommodate red dots or scopes or even an adjustable scope base and rifle scope for truly pushing the 1911 and 45 cartridges limits. I searched long and hard for a builder that would not only listen to my want list, but build the darn thing for me. So may of 2020 after a lot of emails and calls I sent the check to start the build.

I cannot recommend accuracy X enough if you're in the market for a high end 1911. I dont have it in hand yet to check fit and finish but the updates and calls and email chain has been great.

I will do a full review when it comes in.

looks like a nice one! Look forward to seeing yours.

That's very nice Trashy. Am sure you're going to have fun with it.

This is gonna sound a bit,out there but.... oh well.

Years ago on a backyard range we had a nice lazy'ish downward angle to the 100yd berm. I was shooting a BUNCH of handguns back then. Lots of 1911's in 45. One day with the sun at say 10:00 a.m. we were messing around with a 45 @100 yds. Then I noticed something...... strange at first but kept seeing it. Asked the cpl guys with me if they saw it....

It was the sun reflecting off the bases of those big H$G 68's going downrange. Once it was established I wasn't going a bit "Biden" and we really were seeing this..... put it this way,I was tearing up clays on a 100 yd berm,pretty much... at will. Series 70 GC and preemo ammo wasn't hurting. Point being,if you ever get the opportunity of a low sun behind you,and can catch the glimpse.... watch what it does for your overall mojo,shooting pistols(scores).

Good luck with your project.

@Intheshop
Watching 22s with a high powered scope when the sun's setting is magical.

At 100 yards with some wind you can watch it rise 6 inches and curve into the bullseye if its breezy and you hold correctly. Truly magical to watch.

@Dusty Stevens
Me either. I'm really really curious in how it will perform. Or what kind of mounts I'll need to dream up to keep a scope out of the bullets path.

Love my 1911a1s. When Ransom testing at 50yds, seeing the H&G bbwc 68s thru the Star Tool drop in was entertaining. You could most always tell a flier before it hit.

Trashy - nice looking pistol, I like the "Browning" look of the long slide with the rounded rear end and round top. I like the rail. Any thoughts on an integral back strap/magwell? Wilson and Nighthawk both make a really nice version with the difference being the two is the size "tpi" of the stippling grid texture.

As to pushing the 1911 and 45ACP. I have a 300BO shorty and with subsonics it starts becoming a mortar pretty quick. You don't need an MOA rail... you need a good buddy willing to play spotter and call out your hold overs!!! Its like using the "Force"

Its here gents and holy crap its gorgeous.

No review yet, work has me tied down for another week, but oh my, I cannot wait to take it out. I have lower rings on order for my pistol scope, I grabbed that one off a contender barrel.
