Interesting and Revealing Ammunition Article

Capitalism works best in a MORAL society.....What is "right and fair". When greed begins to entire the picture, obscene profits are the main goal at the expense of everyone else. NO MATTER WHAT....... "I'm getting my piece of the pie no matter what". This attitude is very short sighted and selfish but does provide a lot of money relatively quickly for a select few. After time, it falls into ruins as it is unable to sustain the profits it once had for one reason or another. But those that made the profits are off to the next "bag of money". UNLESS they can create a monopoly. This is what has happened/happening to many of the gun manufacturers such as Remington and is now rolling down hill into the rest of the firearms industry.

The days of "take care of the company, and the company will take care of you" (Moral, Right, and Fair) have been over for a LONG TIME now. Greed has taken over the vast majority of Capitalism now. As long as monopolies are allowed in one form or another, massive profits are the order of the day. As a monopoly, I can set my price by (immoral - NOT Right and NOT Fair) supply/demand manipulation or any other means. You either pay the price I want or do without.

In the case of firearms and ammo.........we are now at the mercy of a legal (so far) monopoly. The MOST scary part is the political climate we are currently in too. The monopoly is going to play to both ends of the political spectrum...........for the purpose of self preservation. They want this narrative to last as long as possible.......strictly to make a profit. IMO an immoral profit.

The answer isn't government oversight or monopoly busting alone but to re-establish "morality" and a long term vision into the market places. Short term profits must be replaced with long term stability. Not likely to happen in this generation though.

As for me.......I am a gnat riding on the back end of an elephant with Diarrhea!!! I have no choice but to suck it up and hang on.......because the alternative is even worse!

After the ammo runs out (God forbid!) all you have is a very expensive club! Something the political left has made it's goal! I just wonder which bed Vista likes to sleep in the most........left wingers are right wingers?

The question we need to ask we gaze in the mirror at the perp is, are we moral? That leads to the obvious and more fundamental question, what is morality? Anyone who can answer and create a retirement fund that conforms to their description of morality will probably go broke as many believe that morality precludes the possibility of gain. Those who are religious and of a Christian persuasion know full well that it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. And in that, we have another fundamental question in need of an answer, who is rich? A lot of people who are very rich by my standards seem to view themselves as not too rich to enter the kingdom. More questions to ask on this front than there are answers and all answers are relative.

Agree to a point, but when using the Bible one must use the Bible to interpret what it says. No Scripture is subject to the interpretation of man.

Abram was one of the wealthiest men alive in his day and in this day too should modern equivalents be made. Yet the Lord said he was one of only 2 people that their own righteousness would save them.

Money of it's self is not evil. It's the LOVE of money that is evil. ..... GREED.

It's managed by Fidelity.
With 37 trillion in the markets, there are many large firms. They are all our employee's. If they produce, we are happy. If they don't, we look for other managers. In the last year, those who managed funds invested in the S&P 500 performed. Everyone is happy. Even those who were in the DOW and NASDAQ did well. We all made good money from not selling ourselves the goods and services we want. So, we end up with a pocket full of cash and nothing to buy. Hello inflation.

The price increase we are seeing in ammo and components is not because of greed. It's because demand has outstripped supply, supply chain issues, and the government adding a bunch of new money into the economy. The ONLY thing that can happen as a result is ever increasing prices.

A company making obscene profits will not last long in a truly Capitalist economy. I am not sure we are still have a Capitalist economy.

So with all the comments and theories. WHO is going to effect the changes that need to be made ????

I'll admit I have never been smart concerning money or the market. It took me nearly 66 years to see my ignorance come to fruition. But here are things I have learned.

Although my little bit of spending doesn't change things much, I watch where I spend my money. I go home happy that they are profiting with my money. I refuse to buy from people like Amazon. I try to go to local stores first. Investing? Only in things I can see and have control over. I like it that way.

Capitalism used to involve some smart guys investing money to create innovative things which created demand. Competition meant others sought to create something that could be used to create the same return for the buyer in a more efficient or better way and therefore created demand for their product.

Now, a company simply strives to become so big it can control the market, not by innovation or creation, but by simply controlling the "machine" that turns out product. With the demand for ammunition as it is right now, they don't have to up the quality game or come up with something that captures the market through quality or new ideas. They just turn out product and people will buy it. Plus Vista's statisticians are probably factoring in a liberal gun grab or elimination of more of our freedoms. If I read the article right, they will keep the demand and price up by controlling output. Imagine if you have to "subscribe" with Vista to take delivery of a set amount of ammo each month to get a locked in price. The small guy can't participate and the big guy can't sell below a certain point without losing money. If that is the case, their business model will fuel itself.

Remember "too big to fail"?

When I think of big business, I get this picture in my mind. A 400lb sow laying on her side with teats swollen and piglets attached to each one sucking as hard as they can. The sow is the easy money created by the Fed, the piglets are anyone high enough on the pyramid to get the cheap money.

For some more interesting reading, Try Matthew chapter 24, and Revelations. Someone in a previous post said it won't get better, and I agree.

It's a crazy world, because the world is telling us things are true which are impossible due to financial laws, physical laws, and the laws of nature - all put in place by one true God.

And one other thing: this country was built on belief in God, freedom , and sacrifice. And all these problems exist because we have given our freedom away through complacency and choosing to be content with things as they are. I sometimes think of the men who left homes and family forever to suffer for the creation of this nation.

My favorite quote is from General Robert E. Lee when questioned about his feelings about the outcome of the war. He said that he accepted the outcome of the war, but that he was "concerned that an overly powerful Federal government would prove to be a threat to the rights and authority reserved in the states and to the people and would result in a nation that was sure to be aggressive abroad and despotic at home". (taken from Lee the Last Years, by Charles Bracelen Flood, Copy right 1981).

I don't really see much true capitalism in the pure sense. We've all been fooled.

Ammo ain't diamonds. Neither is Vista DeBeers. Nobody selling jewelry needs the political support of their customer base to stay afloat.

We supported and defended these companies. Without us they would not exist, not by profit nor law.

I started shooting skeet when COVID started.... Since then I have seen shotgun reloading supplies go away , then come back slightly and now skyrocketed up in price.... Shot $56 a bag and worse than that I have seen cheddite primers at $50+ a thousand at BPM when they have them.... They have basically priced me out of skeet shooting.... I will keep going but slowing way down and trying to find crap factory loads close or the same as reloading them....

Now I get 9mm , .223 etc because people have bought tons more of these kinds of weapons to defend themselves.... Just look at the run on guns in Beverly hills where there's only one dealer and he is having a ball..... What I can't understand is why stuff like #8 or #9 shot for shotgun or even pretty much all primers and shotgun powder have disappeared or jumped in price where you can't even afford them anymore... Who is using low power #8-9 shot for defense...????? If you are you need to reevaluate your situation.... All this is totally BS and just wait till that idiot wakes up from his nappy time and actually says gun ban....
Regarding your question about the shot.

I think the raw material is going to other more "profitable" products like 00 buckshot and lead bullets. The demand is exceptionally high, and raw material gets prioritized. Same story here as with primers and powder, just need to open a new lead mine. Good luck with that.

The primer manufacturer is saying the crazy cost of raw materials and the crazy price swings is what's happening to them... They just don't know what things will cost next month etc... I just hate to see it because even if materials go down normally the prices never do... I refuse to be part of the problem and pay those crazy prices so basically I will slow way down on the skeet and start shooting some Rimfire pistol and rifle because now I have been finding .22lr cheap enough again.... Paid $3.49 a box today and bought a brick... It just makes me mad because as soon as I find something I like doing something happens but I will get over it... I guess one way or another I still get to go to the range and get trigger time.... I know for a fact it gets worse...lol
