From all I can determine, this is the best IBS or NBRSA 10-shot group ever shot at 1000 yards. Measured at 2.856 inches, this group by shooter Mike Gaizauskas works out to 0.2727 MOA. Nearly quarter-MOA for ten shots at 1K! Now that’s impressive. Shot 7/27/2016 in WV by IBS Heavy Gun.

Look at that vertical! Seven of 10 shots were in about 3/4" or so vertical... That's mind-blowing. That's well under 0.1 MOA vertical for those 7 shots!

The 2.856" group beats both existing IBS and NBRSA 1K 10-shot records -- by a lot. The group was shoot at Harry Jones range in West Virginia on 7/24/2016.

I am humbled looking at that. And no it wasn't a 6mm Dasher, it wasn't a 300 WSM. It was a 6.5x47 Lapua.

Here is the Harry Jones Memorial 1000 Yard Club Range -- as close to a "1K tunnel" as you'll see without a roof:

Mike Gaizauskas just emailed us with some interesting info on his competition history and his record-breaking 6.5x47 Heavy Gun:

MIKE: This is the third time I have shot a possible Smallest 1000 yd group record and been submitted In 2012 I shot a group measured at 3.042 which remeasured came back 3.046 missed it by .002. See: http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com...gun-sets-three-ibs-1000-yard-records-in-2012/ In 2014 at the IBS Nationals I shot another small group 2.871 and it came back 3.088, See: http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/2014/09/match-report-ibs-1000-yard-nationals-in-west-virginia/ , so I not holding my breath.

Both of the first two groups were shot with a 300 WSM Norma brass Kreiger 30 inch 1:10 barrel Berger 210 VLD H4350 powder BR-2 primers, Leupold 8-25 Scope first group Nightforce NSX second Group. and Mark King was my gunsmith.

This time it was with a 6.5×47 Lapua Krieger 30 in. 1-8 Barrel Lapua 139 grain Scenars, H4350 BR-4 primers Nightforce NSX scope. All with Jewell triggers and Mark King as my gunsmith. I made the stocks.

My shooting Buddy Scott Frock was the IBS Rookie of the Year in his first full season last year with an Identical Heavy gun shooting 300 WSM, again Mark King was the gunsmith and I made both of his stocks. My shooting success was is part due to the great people at the Harry Jones Range and the members of the Harry Jones 1000 Yard Club and the Virginia 1000-Yard club members. They are a great bunch of guys and also great shooters.

Congratulations to everyone who shoots small Mike my hat is off to you seem you have done it more then others.
When the range is discribe as a wind tunnel without a roof . Really doesn't give you the credit you deserve .
Every shooter knows Conditions Determine how small . But without a great shooter and a perfect load it isn't possible .
Great shooting Larry

A wind tunnel ? .... a "wind tunnel" has wind in it (a tunnel does not)

Conditions Determine how small ? .... the shooter, rifle, equipment, and load determine how small. Favorable conditions only make it more likely to happen in. Records are NOT ONLY set in "pristine" conditions, like you continue to imply.

He didn't shoot that small just prior @ the World Open in Williamsport (four chances to shoot small).. I'm not taking anything away from this, but conditions has much to do with shooting small.. I would say almost everything assuming you got your stuff working..

Not to sound like a d&*#, I feel it takes everything to come together to shoot that small or we all could tell stories of how we shot super small in our matches..lol

Lighten up fellas, I didn't read anything that would suggest that it doesn't takes a great shooter..I would add it takes a great:

GunSmith/Shooter/Barrel/Bullets/Setup/tuning ability/Reloader/Conditions and the shooting gods to align the stars..
