Question: Do you check your bedding with a dial indicator? I first learned of this method years ago from a post by Mike Bryant. Later Alex Wheeler has mentioned that he uses the method to check his bedding. Very recently, a fellow that I know made a fixture for this that seems to work very well and is very inexpensive. I have no financial connection, but I did suggest that he he make it.then bigger holes mean it can rock further out of alignment...sorry physics and math gets in the way of your opinion.
as i stated with my pillars, my screws, my action//bbl, TORQUED IN PLACE the bbl was straight and level.
the shims used in the final bedding were to ensure no stress was imparted by the viscosity of the bedding material. strange in the end it came out straight....
each to their own..i am happy and done
After you have it and have used it, let us know what your results are.boyd..i have no way of doing that.(but i did buy one!)
i see no way for over sized holes to improve bedding,UNLESS there was something not straight in the holes to begin with. i went to extremes with my limited tools to ensure the two action screw holes/pillars were straight and true
