info on magazine for 300wsm long action

Fixing to have built, a long throated 300wsm in a remington 700 long action with surgeon long action bottom metal , do any of you guys have any experience with fitting a magazine with a setup like this . i have read where some folks use 300 wm mags and also some used 338 lapua mags ..any help or information is greatly appreciated ... thanks

Do you know what your coal will be? I use the Accurate Mag 300WSM mags designed for a SA build with my 6.5PRC. Not sure how your COAL and my 6.5PRC load with the 153 A-Tip will compare but you may want to consider that route. I am not sure you'll get reliable feeding running 300WSM thru the AICS long action mags.

I ran 338 non cip mags on my 7 SAUM long action. A little lip manipulation and it fed great

It will be sticking out quite a bit . 240 freebore and will be shooting heavies out of it . I have several on short actions that I wish were not handicapped by action or mag length so im going to try and go this route

I have a Surgeon Scalpel in 300WM that I shoot 230 Berger's thru. I've always felt the Berger's needed more than the 10 twist for targets out at 1,000 or farther. I have a couple 30 Caliber blanks, one 8.5 and one 9 twist, and have plans to put one to use as a 300 PRC. I have Atlas brass on hand for the project already so it will be adios to the belt!

Good information! But I would think the body diameter of the 300WM would be larger than .513 measured at the belt?
I can measure and make sure of the 300WM but have no 300WSM brass.
I have to use the 338 mags for my 300 Norma Mag for body diameter instead of length.

you are correct

300wm is 5.13 body and .532 belt
