"In-the White" aluminum rail: should I use it?

I received an aluminum alloy picatinny rail that is "in-the-white/unfinished. I am concerned because any other aluminum component I've used has always been hard-coated/anodized. Should I use this rail or send it back?

Thanks,
Scott

As long as it's securely attached to the rifle and the rings fit correctly it will be fine

I myself would have it coated or you could get a can of krylon and do it yourself cheap and it would look nice and serve the purpose.

I would not use any raw AL on my gun. It is very soft.

So you think anodize or any finish makes it harder? Where did you get that information?

Not everuone know that from neer cans or toothâste tubes to 7075 or 7079, 'hardness' ranges from over 1 to 4.
