Imr 7828ssc for 7mm rem mag

Anyone had any experience with this powder for the 7mm Remington magnum? I am using 168 gr Berger vld and see it listed in their manual. I have had trouble getting my hands on powder to start loading for a new rifle but can get some of this powder.

Excellent powder for that application. I didn't chrono but QL shows very high velocities. Don't feel handicapped grabbing all you can. Fits in the 7mm SAUM and .243AI also.

From the IMR website: "This magnum rifle powder has exactly the same burn rate as standard IMR 7828 and uses the same data. However, due to the super short kernels, metering is virtually as good as a spherical powder. This allows up to 4% more powder space in the case and in many loads yields more velocity than standard 7828. Such loads are marked with an asterisk in the data to show where standard 7828 will not fit.

IMR 4831 works best for me in 7mm Rem Mag, though I might try some 7828ssc again.

Do you prefer the regular 7828 or 7828 ssc version?
Since I use my Chargemaster at the range, I don't use my powder measure. Have found little to no variance in burn rate between the two.

I have used 7828ssc in a 300 win mag (I know not the same caliber the OP is asking about) with very good results. I wouldn't hesitate using it.

the cartridge was designed around 7828.it works just fine. no reason to think the ssc version will not.

as always don't start with the max load.

i use standard 7828 in 243 w/105's, 300 win 230 gr bergers
7mm rem, 7mm dakota and a custom chambered 340 wby(standard throat)

i also used it in standard 300 & 340 wby chambers. the data imr published and my velocities were consistent. the speeds were fast and accurate.

I have used the IMR 7828 with the 150 bullet and it works very good. I use H1000 with the Berger 168 VLD. This is in several 7mm RM rifles. I would not be too concerned about the "SC" powder but work up a new load.
