Has anyone used VV N165 for 7MM RSAUM

I have used it in a 7mm Wildcat with similar capacity and I currently use it in my .284 Shehane. It works very good.

Eric,

I use N140 in my 6mmBR and in my BRX. Superb accuracy [0.437 groups 5-shots @200 yds]
Both shoot the same. Pretty clean shooting powder. Is the N165 also clean shooting?
I will try the N165 this Thursday for load development.

Yes, N165 is a clean burning powder. Another plus is that N165 is the coldest burning powder you can buy, therefore increasing barrel life!

Hi Erik,

Thanks for your info. The N165 will be delivered Thursday then comes load development.
All else is set and measured; brass [Nosler]. I have lots of new brass and some I just resized,
they came out perfect, both tension and OAL. Berger 180s are seated 0.004 into the lands.

I shot the IMR 4831 and it is too dirty, accuracy changed after 40 shots. Lots and lots of
carbon in the throat and barrel [30 in Brux chambered by "sticks" at S&S].

I will post accuracy groups soon.

The rifle has Bernosky stock, Stolle Panda, Graco recoil reducer + Gooey pad, Nightforce
12-42 BR. Shoots very comfortably. With IMR@60 gr I was doing 3-shot groups @ 200yds
of 0.4 inches. So the rifle is good, powder was a bit sucky!

Hi Eric will the N165 work well with a straight 284 with 180s? I currently use it in my 243AI and use N150 in my 6BR.

I have never tried N165 in a .284 Winchester. I know N160 works in a .284 Win. though.

Yes. A little down on velocity. Expect ~2,825 fps from a 30-inch barrel.

Any results on the N165 in 7mmRSAUM? I'm interested as my go-to powder for this was Win Supreme 780 and wow is that hard to find now.

I've been using H4350 with the lighter 160gr bullets, but the 180s don't like it in my rifle. Nether H1000, nor Retumbo.

I use it with my 280AI and love it, its very accurate,I bought 8 lbs of it.. My gun is a hunting gun with a featherweight krieger barrel and a few months ago put my 3 first bullets in 2" at 675 yards!!

N-165 is very clean burning, works very well in the 280AI and 7saum. you will get some impressive speed in the 7rsaum, not so well from the 280AI with the 180 gr bullets.
