7mm Rem Mag

H4831 does very well with 160-175gr bullets....I have some Re23, H414,H4831 and might let go with some Re22 for some Re15 and IMR4064...have a pound of IMR4350 also.

Rl19, H1000, Retumbo ain't bad with the heavy bullets if you have the barrel to burn it. Don't disregard good ol IMR 4350 with the 140-150s either. I, like you am a rl22 fan but 19 has always been very good too.
RL 22 is my all time favorite in 7mag under a 140 partition, ballistic tip or accubond. Just plain kills deer near and far.

Well, RL22 has gone missing in action - except on gunbroker but it is dead to me at those prices. But, still trying to find a way to begin reloading my 7mm Mag. Got the dies, the brass, primers... but no powder. RL22 i have experience with since 7mm Rem Mag was my first love and reloading adventure. I really like RL22. Nowhere to be found - even with powder for powder trade I have posted elsewhere closer to home.

Not giving up yet - If you load 7mm Rem Mag - what top 3 powders would you use (in order please). Maybe I can find a replacement powder using that method.

Thanks!

ADDED: I forgot people can't read my mind any better than i can read others, so, Mostly will be loading 120gr ttsx , 140 TSX and sierra 150 GK

Thanks again!
H4831 isn't everywhere but it seems to be available more so than many others are. Give it a shot. It's an excellent option and one that offers super accuracy with no temp sensitivity. Top velocities won't be achieved but accuracy will be. I'll say 160-168 grain bullets really do well over a load of H4831sc

For 140/150 grain bullets in 7mm Mag, Norma. Look at this load data..

7 MM REMINGTON MAGNUM | Norma (norma-ammunition.com)

Norma URP shows available at powdervalleyinc.com

Nobel Vectan 7000 & 8000 are others that have been available recently, but I don't see its in stock at PV or Grafs right now. I bought some about a month ago. Very reasonably priced and effective. One of those powder outliers that a lot of folks don't know much about or avoid. Norma has always been a bit more pricey than others and maybe why they linger a bit longer. Just keep checking sales outlets.

Don't know your twist, but assume that it is 9.5.With my gun which is 27" long,1-10 twist the Quick Load
says the magic sauce is Reloader 26 and IMR 7828. I am shooting 140/160 pills!

Loaded for the 7mm Magnum for decades and RL-22 was never a better powder than many others. So bottom line is you will most likely find no reason to go back to RL-22 when you discover way better choices for that cartridge.

120g Ballistic tips, TTSX, Sierra
72-73g of R#22
CCI 250 is the accuracy primer
Rem brass
Touch the lands with all but the TTSX and just start your seating depth .050 off the lands
Bug holes abound in Remington 700's, bedded and floated
barrels and lot# of powder will vary from 3250-3500
120g Nosler ballistic tip is a LOT tougher bullet than you would think
120g ttsx does not stop, never found one in an animal and a friend uses the TSX for elk

140g Ballistic tips, Accubond, and TTSX
65-66g of IMR 4350
Rem brass
Rem 9 1/2
Tiny groups in remingtons, 3/8" and less
3200-3250 depending on barrel length
Seat the bullet to touch the lands except the TTSX, jump them .050

140g Sierra flat base with light load at 3000
54g of IMR 4064
Mag primer ONLY!!! FED 215 and WiN Mag primer...you get hang fires without mag primers, 9 1/2 M Does not work for this application
This is a fragile bullet for 7 mag velocities, great for 3000 fps MV

140g ttsx
Win brass
fed 215
67g of R#19(WORK UP TO THIS LOAD)
.050 bullet jump
3300 fps depending on the barrel

150-154g ballistic tips, 154g Hornady sp
63.0g of IMR 4350(start at 62 and work up)
Rem brass
Rem 9 1/2 primer
154g Hornady sp shoots holes though both shoulders of 250 lb hogs, 150g nosler ballistic tips seem to be a LOT tougher than the 140g version
3100-3150 fps

150-154g
72-73g of R#25(start at 69g and work up), you will get a bug hole
Winchester Mag Primer ONLY for best accuracy and SD of less than 10 FPS
Rem brass
Touch the lands with ballistic tip and 154g Hornady Sp, Interbond shot well
Vel ~3100(26")+ depending on the barrel: ~3200 fps in 9T, 28" barrel
Rough on primer pockets, Hunting load

160-168g
71g of Retumbo(work up from 69g)
Fed 215
Rem brass
Touch the lands with accubond and Berger vld hunting

160g Sierra btsp
Family has killed over 300 deer with this load out of various rifles including BAR's
61g of IMR 4831
CCI 250
Bullet is easy to tune
2900-2950
This is the NO running deer load for the entire family, perfect speed for this bullet, great penetration and lots of shock on a deer.

175g Nosler Accubond
R#22 shot a single bug hole, CCI 250's at 2830. R#26 shot 3/8" at 3030 fps with the 175's.
We seated the bullet .005 off the lands
Rem brass
We shot a few deer and hogs with the R#22 load, jeez, this bullet does it's job! Penetrating from quartering shots and exiting on large hogs.

WARNING; BARREL DIA, THROAT DIMENSIONS, POWDER LOT# CAN ALL VARY GREATLY. WORK UP TO THE LOADS ABOVE.

We run muzzle breaks on all rifles, bed them, free float the barrel, replace triggers on Remington's, or tune, re spring Walker triggers, epoxy sear to the trigger. We like a 26" barrels. Brothers, nephews, niece all shoot 7 mags. Niece killed a monster buck at 420 yards, darn near dark, 140g Berger hit 3" from base of brisket(heart shot). The monster buck ran 50 yards but it was pitch dark when they tried to find it...could not. Next morning, it took 10 minutes to find the monster. Those bergers are pretty fragile at a MV of 3300, and the bullet still fragmented in the chest(did exactly like Berger advertised) at 420 lasered yards. I told them not to use the berger but she loves it from all the kills with her 7/08, no talking her out of it. The Girl can shoot!

Yep, I've loaded for a few 7rm barrels and not one liked rl22 very well. I have no idea why, it seems like an obvious choice.

Most Rem 700 rifles I’ve loaded for really like 4350 and a 150, 160 and 168 grain bullet. Its unbelievable how accurate they are......
But on the other hand I have Browning A-bolt rifle I’ve had for 27yrs and it doesn’t like 4350. It shot good with 4831sc but when it got the taste of H1000 it loves it. This rifle is amazing with H1000 pushing
a Berger 168gr VLD H and the ES is 2.

Found my load! Thanks to everyone for your input. Settled on this load:

160 gr AccuBond - N165 @ 66.0 grains - Base to Ogive: 2.754" - WW Brass - WLRM primer
5 Shot Group: FPS 2894 avg SD: 6 ES: 14 - Grouping: 0.60" at 100 yards

Think that will work just fine!

Tried H4831sc and was getting more speed - about 100 fps more - but the N165 was just a bit better - and what is 100 fps more in the whole scheme of things anyway? :)

RL-23 is in the same burn rate and may be available. It is very temperature stable and known to work well in the .284 Win with 180 grain bullets.

I shoot 140 TSX's in my 7 mm Rem Mag and next to Rel. 22, the next best of eight powders tested was IMR 7977. Good Luck!
