Improving the precision of an AR

The two guys who are running the match bought new AR-10's in 6.5 CM.

I can't imagine that anyone would seriously consider 308. There are so many better choices. Same with a 243.
When shooting off a bench,do you use a front rest and special forend or bipods.
Any special bench technique that produce the best results ?.

I'm not a AR guy. But I couldn't resist a AR Les Baer Custom in .204.
It has shot some small 3 shot groups with some 32 gr dog town ammo.
I have some custom 40 gr ordered and some 39 serria on hand.
It's hard to hold steady in my bags set up.
I either need a bipod or forend adapter for bags.

Thanks for the info.
Hal
The local AR Varmint Benchrest game here allows bags, bipods, or mechanical front rest. I use a mechanical rest for the 300 and 600 yard game that allows botl rifles and will use a mechanical rest for the AR game.
