Imperial Sizing Die Wax question

I bought some Dillon lube the other day, pretty good stuff in my opinion but im a rookie. The only two ingredients in the Dillon lube is Lanolin and isopropyl alcohol. Im not sure what the mixture rate is for the two but I was thinking this Imperial wax is slick stuff but kinda messy, has anyone tried putting some with alcohol to maybe make it a little easier to use.

for years i have used a mixture of lanolin and alcohol blended to the consistancy that flows and is not so thick as to cause dimples.

never a stuck case.

it works like RCBS lub

I agree with Bob on lanolin. For regular sizing of a few thousandths, a variety of lubes will work well. For case forming, I Have seen nothing better than lanolin and an alcohol slurry makes it easier to manage the film thickness. [br]
Any drug store should have lanolin. Baaa-aaa ;)

I like die wax. Takes just a hint of it to size most small to mid-size cases and wipes off with paper towel. Also had good luck with Lee sizing paste in the tube. Apply either with a fingertip.

Try equal measure of anhydrous lanolin and petroleum jelly aka vaseline. Heat up gently mixing together and apply.[need only a smidgen like Imperial] Kiwi bullet maker's recipe.

my concoction is anhydrous lanolin, melted, add a bit of synthetic motor oil and a bit of stp oil treatment until the thickness is just right. a bit messy, but the stuff really lubes a case for full length resizing. the case goes in and out of the die so smoothly that i almost feel it's been resized allready. more than one way to skin a cat...that ages me.

This topic came up on M4carbine.net a while back. There was a specific grade of alcohol that the guys were having to order at Walgreens. Wasn't the regular IPA on the shelf...

But they were just 2 parts... Lanolin and the Alcohol. I see no sense in not just paying for Dillon case lube myself....

I use this Hornady Unique lube, it works great, not messy and you dont need very much at all.

I believe Imperial got there mixture just about right,...it's the best sizing lube I have ever used, I wouldn't change a thing.

Sharp Shootr products makes a die wax similar to Imperial but thinner. And smells real nice too.
Works just fine but you need to pay closer attention to your finger dab or you'll end up with to much.

Ya know, just a little heat will make Imperial thinner. It seems to change viscosity with the temperature.
