So I looked and I must have used that one. I have two new takeoff 7mm-08 M70 barrels, but no 308. I do have a decent tikka 30-06 takeoff that has enough straight section to cut the threads off and recut a 1” tenon for a M70 action.

Unless he has a big stock of truck gun ammo in 308, you might be doing him a big favor using one of msalm's 7-08 barrels. If I had cancer to face, I might welcome a reduced recoil gun, heck I have no cancer just a construction cripple and it sounds like a good idea to me.

Josh, I think l have a new McGowen 308, s/steel blank, 1-12 twist Remington magnum contour in my barrel rack, can’t verify until this weekend. It‘s yours if you can use it.

Both are new takeoffs, shorter (20 or 22”). They are the newer 1 1/16” fine pitch thread but nice thing is you can turn the threads off and rethread for 1”-16 pitch. These are CRF models assembled in Portugal. Good looking barrels. One is yours if you want it.

If the forum boss would approve I would really like to see some of the members truck guns. Some I have seen on other forums are rather creative. I saw some nice shotgun truck weapons on Cast Bollits once. If you would share this gentleman's first name it would help me to remember him in my prayers. Glad you are helping out, he doesn't need to worry about anything more than his health. He may be like some of my friends that a truck gun is a requirement they work so far out in the woods or the ranch and alone.

FYI, CDNN has a pretty good price on a good looking Steyr 100 in 308 with scope. Not a M70, but would make a darned good truck rifle with a dbm and shorter bbl. Just saw it the other day and felt it worth mentioning.
