I’m Getting My New Eyes This Month!

I hear ya on insurance companies. They got no problem taking your money, but squeal like stuck pigs when you try to get some back. I too am doing the full dental implant surgery. So far I am out $31K. Insurance has only paid $2K and will pay no more this year. Every time I see the Clear Choice commercials "done in one day" I want to throw something at the TV. One day my ass. The process for me started in April and will not be done until mid October. It is a major PITA. Mike
I'm like you on the one day thing. I've had several implants done and the more recent ones were suppose to take 6 months, but that included bone graft and ended up taking a year to complete. I'm in the process of having having two done that are suppose to only take 3 months, but no graft was needed. I'm half way through it and so far so good.

Well, I am done with my eyes.

Doctor Whitsett performed the light adjustment on the new lens implants last Thursday.

I am 100% pleased. It is amazing how well I can now see,

He told me in one moth that he wants to check my vision after everything has settled, and see if any other correction is needed.

It was neat how he “custom corrected” the new artificial lenses. They dilate your eyes, You look into this “machine” that has eight orange dots in a circle. He places a cup in your eye socket to hold it wide, and then while his assistant counts down exactly 60 seconds, you are hit with a light that appears to be as bright as the sun. Of course, it is all computer controlled.

After your eyes settle, (about 6 hours), you are ready to go.

As I said before, the only drawback seems to be that this is considered elective surgery. My insurance nor Medicare would not pay for any of it.
The most important thing we have is our health. The expense is not pleasant, but in the long run it's worth every penny.

Wednesday I go in for my pre op exam, followed by the lens surgery in Two separate gists. By the end of September, I will be finished.

I posted a photo of the itinerary, I have been putting this off for some time, but finally decided to go for it.

I will be getting the latest in lens, the Light Adjustable Lens from RxSight. My surgeon will be Dr Jeffery Whitsett.

I am really looking forward to this. Dr Whitsett has said he sees no reason why I should not have 20/20 at all distances, as I have no other signs of the various age related ailments that can be present in people my age.

Just for everyone’s info if you are considering this, the cost is $5000 per eye. That covers everything. My insurance and Medicare Plan A will pick up very little, as they consider this elective surgery.

But I figure the best thing to do is get it all done now so in my remaining years it will be one less thing to worry about.View attachment 1367428
Jackie, I had this surgery two and a half years ago, like you my ins. and medicare covered little to nothing, but it was the best money, $9200, I've ever spent on myself. My vision is 20/20 or a bit better according to my eye doctor. Good luck with your surgery.

Good luck sir! I just had the left knee replaced, the right one comes up Nov 29th, colonoscope 6 weeks ago, endoscopy last week and more to come! Getting old (or older :) ) isn't for the weak!

I shoot rifle, mostly XTC (scope and irons) plus varmits, and some pistol combat type matches and frequent practices slowfire. Dr says I have cataracts and floaters.Currently I have near vision and wear the vary focus glasses. Thinking its time for cataract surgery. My concern is if I go for distance, I won't be able to shoot pistol without special glasses. Would like to be able to grab a handgun at o dark 30 should there be a need. Also some reading turned up several folks mention that with their distance lens that it was hard to focus their rifle scopes??? Any advise on these issues?

Thanks
Frank

Had surgery done the first of this year. Toric lens set for distance. Rifle scopes no problem, actually better than before. Can start focusing clear at about arms length plus 6 inches. Red dot clear and round.

Frank … I added a laser sight to my Glock for home protection. Even without my glasses I can accurately hit center mass 4” circle at 30-40 feet. Closer is even easier.
