FOR THOSE AGING EYES...

Just had new lenses implanted last year (cataracts) and the surgeon also corrected the astigmatism in my right eye using LRI (limbal relaxing incisions). Everything worked out as planned, and like Bob Lee, I opted for the "hi-def" implants (extra $2k per eye - and not covered by insurance but totally worth the $$$s). Both eyes were set up for distance vision. Without glasses vision is now 20/40. With corrective lenses 20/15 and crystal clear! For shooting I went with Decot glasses. The good folks at Decot set me up with a different lens to use with irons vs. with scope - works great! 100% satisfied and thank God for modern medicine!

You are fortunate--im glad this worked out for you. Mine didnt come out so well but alot better than what i had. Im still looking for something better .

In 1996 I had a drill bit shatter and send a fragment into my right eye, my shooting eye. it blinded it first with apaque blood that had leaked in from the injury which took 6 months to dissolve , then it was blind from a traumatic cataract. the eye doctor did a lens implant, its far from perfect, but better then being blind , open sights im useless, scopes must have AO to correct for the poor eye, lots of starburst and blur from bright objects or lights. Checked into laser surgury about 10 years ago with no hope since it is a implanted lens. I might have to check into this newer CLR as I've not been happy with the outcome of it in 96' , Would love to have my vision back to what it was in my twenties and thirties.

My Grandfather was a wise old man. He told me once that "some people would kick if you hung them with a brand new rope...".

Interesting, to say the least, that some members would have an issue with a posting that could help them this much.

About 2 years ago my Father in Law had CLR surgery for a cataract in his right eye. He was 79 at the time and in excellent health. He looks like he's in his 60's and is very spry. He came home and the next day his eye started to get pretty sore so he went to the ER that night. They told him he was fine and it would get better. By the middle of the next day it got a lot worse so he called the eye doc and went in. He had a massive infection in the eye and they rushed him to the hospital for emercency surgery. Long story short, they came very close to removing the eye. 3 surgerys later they managed to save it but he's legally blind in that eye. He has a very narrow window of uncorrectable blury vision in it.

I'm all for modern medicine and the advancements to repair all sorts of things is incredible so I'm not exactly sure what my point is other than listen to your body and get you butt to the dr asap if you think your having a problem. And don't be afraid to be as proactive as you need to be to have peace of mind. He was 1 in 4500 people for the type of infection that happened from the surgery. Great odds for most folks, but it happens.

Like Savagedasher I'm waiting for the miracle hearing sugery. Protect your eyes and hears the best you can.
Wishing everyone the best!
