If you weren’t confused before, you will be after this.

I personally think he just insisted on speaking about datums and the whole 'cannot bump a shoulder' routine simply because he insisted on sticking to precise terms instead of engaging in commonly recognized terms.
As if he saw himself as on a level of knowledge well above all those around him. And using those commonly recognized terms would tarnish his self-image.
Arrogance.
Unnecessary. Unproductive. Tedious.
I don't know exactly who said it, or exactly how it was worded. I've heard it attributed to Einstein but no matter who it was, it's spot on.
'If you can't explain it simply, you do not understand it well enough.'
Can't say as I miss him at all.
I'm sure he's off somewhere else grinding that axe.

Did he/does he actually shoot rifles?
The reason I ask is, from the limited number of posts I've seen, he would elaborate and insist on why the tape around the block was the ONLY way to measure the front porch. It led me to wonder how much actual experience he had/has.

Actually a very good question. I read many of his posts. Really for my own entertainment. But I do not recall him ever mentioning a rifle or cartridge that he was or had shot.

I've run into him on another forum, and I think that he may have honed his skills in the pursuit of fitting, fixing, and sizing brass to fit old mismatched 303 Brit chambers and bolts.

It's been quite a while, and my memory --- well you know, but I was left with that idea somehow,

Back in the day, there were butt-loads of old milsurp rifles around that required God only knows what kind of custom reloading. Folks were poor, brass was precious, and things that seem ridiculous today were carefully done in the pursuit of our hobby. Kind of like keeping an old 1958 International Harvester pick-up running into the modern days. ;) jd

I had seen posts on other forums he frequented where he states he had a M1917, which fits as most everything he would allude to was milsurp stuff.
