'd go with RoyBs VAC but would go with a 6.5 something ( x57ACK or -06ACK) and the 35Whelen. That would be just to take advantage of the(IMHO) best bullets you can get.

Couldn't resist this post - mine would be the 270 Winchester (24" length barrel)on the condlition that I'd wouldn't be hunting anything larger than estern black bear or elk.

I'm a big fan of the late Jack O'Connor who immoralized the 270.

Yes Jack was a neat guy, he lived about 40 miles north of me, we moved to town in 1976 and being from the country I hated city life, I turned 13 that year and I spent all my time hunting and trapping, one day while hunting rabbits with friends we thought it would be a hoot to knock on his door, we figured he would run us off but he invited us in, his mounts were unbelievable to me I had never saw anything like it, he told us some neat stories and we had refreshments, he was very nice to a band of kids up to no good, we went back twice more then the next thing we knew he was gone, I sure wish I could have got to really know him, he was a down to earth good guy from what I saw through the eyes of a kid.
