I'd like some input on the Millett 6-25x56mm Buck Gold scope

http://swfa.com/Millett-6-25x56-Buck-Gold-30mm-Riflescope-P9248.aspx
I found this scope on swfa.com and from the specs it looks to be a fairly nice scope. Nobody around here has these in stock for me to look at in person so i was hoping someone on here would have some first hand knowledge of one.

Im looking for ways to make a few bucks because i want to get into highpower and i am trying to save up some cash for a NM AR. Ive got two nice varmint rigs that both have the Leu 8.5-25x50 LRT scopes on them. So, i was thinking if this Millett scope was a good replacement for the Leupold, i could make about 400-500 bucks by selling a Leo and getting the millet.

the rifle that i would most likely swap scopes on is my Savage LRPV in 223. I shoot the 75gr Amax and ive had its on ground squirrels out to 640yards. The other rifle that has the Leo LRT is my Rem 700 in 6br (bartlein 5R 7.5" twist) shooting 105 amaxs and 107smks. Im not taking the Leupold off the 6br....

any info would really be appreciated!

Bought the same scope but with the fine crosshairs (which is actually a dot) last spring. I put it on an F-class rifle. The scope was on sale at Natchez Shooter Supply for $189.95. I don't see that price anywhere now.

The scope is OK. It seems to hold point of impact and it tracks well. I've shot good scores (for me) with it. It has a lot of adjustment in it, something like 70 MOA if I remember correctly. I also like the 1/8 MOA adjustments.

Optically it is not in the same league as the Leupold. The image becomes somewhat cloudy or foggy looking at the highest power settings. It is useable at 25X, but a bit annoying. Anything below 20X seems just fine.

Don't know about the duplex or mildot, but the fine crosshairs are a bit thick.

All in all a pretty good scope for what I paid. I would say for your application on a .223 out to 600 yd it will work fine. Just don't expect Leupold quality at this price.

Save your money, the two I looked through were junk! You'd be much better served finding a used Sightron if your trying to save a few bucks.

hey thanks guys. i think that i will stick with my leupold. mainly because of what fatts said about the crosshairs. shooting the rather small squirrels, i really like the fine crosshairs in my LRT.

the only downside of where i shoot, i usually cant benefit from anything more than 20 power because it either magnifies mirage or haze (smog).

thanks again,
Jeremy
