IBS Rimfire 50 and 100 yard

Bone stock Factory anschutz and or kimbers 40xs Cmp guns anything that has been mass produced should not be in custom class.
now i can see keeping custom shop guns out that includes some 40x's ..but anything mass produced at one time or another should be in factory class.
i understand you want a beginner class but i think your keeping more shooters out than your gaining....just my opinion and you know what they say about opinions.

I have no problem with you're 1st post at all. My response was only in that when the ARA started their factory class list, which IBS has adopted, the forums where chuck full of responses much the same as yours. There'll be more to come I'm sure.
I'll commend the IBS however in having the custom class to allow the rest of the factory guns to compete. Smart move imo. No MD wants to turn anyone away.
As to calling it a custom class, I'm not so sure. It still has to be a factory action in which you can have your way with after that seemingly which will pretty much even things out with the rifles not allowed in the "factory" class shot bone stock or modified.
End result is everyone will be allowed to shoot, & thats a good thing.

I agree, calling it custom seems out of place. our club shoots the IBS for thrifty, factory and super factory.
for us super factory would put all the older match rifles in together, but it also allows custom actions without tuners and shot off two-piece rest.

This is a good move. Three or four different classes, both 50 yard and 100 yard and then combined results, that's a dozen different chances to win and most everybody feels good going home.

I would have liked to see a "vintage class" specifically for the 37s, 52s, 40X and XB, Anschutz 54s, Kimber 82s and the like. Can't have everything I guess. The so called custom class does sweep them up so better than nothing.

J. Proposed Vintage Sub-Class: Any competitor wishing to shoot a 22 LR Vintage rifle, may do so as their Custom Class entry for the tournament or as a second rifle, Vintage Class entry. They must declare during registration whether they are competing as custom or vintage class. Separate scoring and awards shall be kept for this sub-class. Vintage class rifle models shall be predominately manufactured before 1980, (example: made 1960-1983) follow the same general rules as Factory rifles as far as modifications etc. and be limited to a 9x scope. If the rifle is fitted with a variable power scope it must 790 be set at 9x or below and taped to avoid adjustment.

I expect to see several revisions to the rules throughout the first year. I bet the first will be the 50 yard target. I am going to make my practice session today by shooting some. With best edge they look easier than an ARA factory. without digging out the calipers it looks like the 50 yard 10 ring is only a smidgen smaller than the 100 yard 10 ring

Keith, you going to schedule one or two IBS rimfire matches at LCRC and be match director?
That’s my intention. Need to make the next meeting & ask for permission from the club.

I measured the 50yd ring to be 9/16ths so just under a 32nd less than the proposed 100yd. I practiced some with the 50 @ 100.

add in a .2 inch for best edge scoring and that ten ring is huge for the custom/unlimited guys. I have a pdf practice target that puts 30 10 -6 ring bulls on a 8.5 x 11 I will attach

Good to hear. Try to keep an eye on Vermont and CT IBS centerfire dates as you move along. If I can help at the matches let me know.

That may be so, but I think that in a match comprised of targets at 50 and 100 yds the 100 yd portion will be the easy tie breaker. IMO, for a vintage class the IBS 50 yd target is just right. It takes into account the attainable accuracy of these rifles while making a 250 reasonably attainable, the ties being broken almost always by the X count. If that fails, there is the Creedmoor system. What the IBS should not do is make the target so difficult (or go to worst edge scoring) where the only ones that can be successful need to shoot 4 thousand dollar rifles. Instant death to the effort imo.

I picked up my new VuDoo single shot today and after doing an ammo test shot one of those practice targets. Wind was 3- 5 mph switching and on shot23 I finished that box of CenterX and switched to SK auto match, I dropped a point on that shot and adjusted my POA down to 7 o'clock for shots 24 and 25 and finished with a pair of X's. In unlimited class the 50 yard portion will be decided by X count for sure

Excellent Jim.
thanks but that was some pretty easy shooting, That would have been shots 100 - 125 apx through that rifle and I am still playing with holds etc. Like GPalman said above the 100-yard target will be the real test. Pretty sure I can shoot the occasional clean on this target with my factory rifle, and decent custom or unlimited shooters` should not have much of a problem unless the wind is tricky
