IBS Rimfire 50 and 100 yard

nah I should apologize to you, I did not mean it to come off so curt. I was in a foul mood most the day yesterday and was being an ass in general

Just an assumption but I would think they were concerned with people tying to use extra wide homegrown rail as a front bag rider. Just speculating of course
Alls good Jim, didn't take anything as curt.

Lee

Not sure why, but can’t think of a reason to even want to do this. We use thicker superfeet at some places to account for steeper than normal slopes, but for me I can’t see why you would do it anyway with a normal one piece rest.
I shoot two different style stocks. one rifle needs the rear of the rest raised and the other as low as I can get.
having something I can adjust vertically would be great. that way I don't have to touch the front post.
I shoot off an old Pappas.

Lee

I am a firm believer in keeping the front post all the way down all the time. I use several sets of feet of different thicknesses.
Generally agree John. It seems to be written more expecting something in the rear that also adjusts height. Just not sure why one would want to adjust the height for each shot via one of these risers. I suppose some type of superfeet that has two parts threaded together so it is "adjustable" to some degree to handle what you are talking about, but I am again more thinking the intention of the rule would be about adjusting shot to shot. I could be wrong.

The bag rider slides onto the ARCA rail or I could use a bi-pod that works with an ARCA rail. No rocking and works with a front rest/rear bag as good as a $500 BR wood stock does.

Bill
Fair enough. Not sure I agree on it vs. a BR stock, but it's all in what we have confidence in. I get that.

I think this is the kind of adjustable base for the rear bag they don't want to see

I could adjust my rear bag faster by hand than cranking on those two knobs.

Wow, that'll thin the ranks in Factory class.
What guns are left?
Savage Mark 2's are going to be popular, I predict.

I.B.S. rimfire matches to begin a trial period beginning in 2024.

An IBS rimfire benchrest score rule book has been created for a trial period beginning in 2024. The format allows for three (3) classes of rifles. Unlimited and Factory classes are similar to other rimfire benchrest organizations to allow potential competitors to seamlessly transition to IBS competition without significant equipment changes. The third class, unique to IBS, is labeled “Custom”. It falls between the Unlimited and Factory specifications allowing certain modifications to be made to the rifles.

IBS Rimfire competitions are proposed to be fired at both 50 yards, the same as other organizations, and 100 yards. A provisional 100 yard target, similar in style to the IBS official 50 yard target, with 25 individual bulls-eyes and 4 sighter targets, has been developed and is available in limited quantities.

Meets will generally consist of two (2) or four (4) twenty-five bull target matches at either one or both distances. Standard ‘best edge’ scoring is used with a 10X being the goal. Maximum score per target card is 250-25X.

It is hoped with the relatively inexpensive, introductory ‘Factory’ class, that IBS can increase participation in our sport and bring in new and younger competitors including those associated with organized youth programs nationwide.

Interested parties may contact Mark Burns at MCGC.22benchrest@gmail.com for more information and/or a copy of the provisional rule book.
Maybe some 50 and 100 yard Airgun too….a lot of fun and a way to expand the sport

Bone stock Factory anschutz and or kimbers 40xs Cmp guns anything that has been mass produced should not be in custom class.
now i can see keeping custom shop guns out that includes some 40x's ..but anything mass produced at one time or another should be in factory class.
i understand you want a beginner class but i think your keeping more shooters out than your gaining....just my opinion and you know what they say about opinions.

I would like to see a handicap system like golf. Use your first three cards to establish a handicap. Instead of a course rating like golf use a wind rating obtained by finding the wind speed for that area and time using the US Weather Service data. Of course, IBS would have to keep track of the shooter and rifle serial number and determine a scale for the wind values. Not perfect but doable in the computer/cellphone era and would allow you to run what ya brung and be competitive with it. Drag racing's bracketing system might be another idea

I believe ARA has a very similar list of rifles not allowed in Factory class. I believe it to be a good thing. I would hate to shoot my $700.00 CZ heads up with a Winchester 52D or a 40X.
The CZ 457 MTR is a real "tweener". I have seen 2 different shooters fire 250's with high X count at 50 yards on the IBS 50 yard target. Hell I have shot a 249-8X with a CZ 457 Varmint. Probably can't keep up with a good stock 40X or 52D in the long run but on any given day with a good shooter and lot# of amo it could be interesting. The MTR does have a "Match Chamber" according to their advertising.

We have several factory class shooters in my area who have shot 2500's using ARA worst edge scoring so I expect to see more than a few 50 yard 250's with the IBS best edge system. One day this week I want to go shoot a 50 yard practice target with my MTR. I shot a couple of the 100 yard ones and that wind can put you in the 5 and 6 ring real fast. I have not decided whether to go factory or unlimited. I have a Vudoo single shot with a Benchmark barrel coming in this week, I will wait and see how it shoots before deciding
