Can a range hold ibs matches and not run soy points?
I was meaning over the years, how many won SOY just shooting HJ/VA.
Then why do you crying about Va1000 and Harry ? If you like what you are doing ...fine . So don't go to the Va1000 matches, if hurts them it will end.... jim

To ttfreestyle: Don't let a bunch of us grouchy ole farts put you off of holding IBS matches. Please take the time to attend a IBS long range match and see for yourself how much fun we have. In the overall scheme of things we look forward to competing and poking fun at each other. Come see us at the Vapor Trail Range and I'll make sure you have everything you need to shoot for the weekend. You'll have home made lunches, dinner out with the guys. Maybe an adult beverage or two after the range is closed.

This is how most of the matches go. Most people are willing to go all out to help someone. It is like this at all the ranges. People help get you on target. Will lend you a rifle to try it. They usually end up somewhere for dinner and talk with a few beverages. That's how new shooters are born. Matt

That’s exactly what kind of match and atmosphere we want to provide as well. No drama and everyone has a fun time. Yes the shooting will be serious and we will make some mistakes being new I am certain. We will need guidance from the experienced ones as well. If the rain will ever stop we will move forward. My wife and I plan to come shoot at the other ranges around us as well. Thanks for the support Troy

I was thinking of that exact thing last night while browsing through this. I couldn't help but wonder if some of the "club gun" guys that where looking to shoot at Deep Creek next year where getting turned off by posts like this. Hopefully they realize going to an actual IBS match has zero of this bull shit going on, and is just a great group of guys all trying to help one another shoot small groups over a weekend. And the key : adult beverages after the range is closed

We had so much fun with the Montana crowd that we are making the 32 hour drive to shoot with y’all again in June! I only hope we can make everyone feel as welcome at our matches as they did us. Troy

I second what Troy has said about Deep Creek & the 2018 Nationals where I shot my first match. - First Class Group of folks, Well run match. And Beautiful scenery of Montana. - I look forward to going back up there when my work schedule will allow.
This "issue" - It's took me a while to "figure out" what this is all about. And of course each will have their own views on the matters at hand. - I will say this, I'm for things being Fair, and for the Good of the Shooters and our sport.

As one of the "club gun" new guys I'll vouch for this! I shot the June & July matches then the Nats in August. In those three trips to Deep Creek it was nothing but a NO DRAMA good time. EVERYONE went out of their way to make me feel welcome and help me with anything I needed. I definitely felt like the pain in the ass new guy but was never treated that way.

If there were a rule that you not say anything on the internet you wouldn't look a person in the eye and say in person we could lose about 90% of this drama.

Then I'd have to have my bullet man working triple time lol. No thanks, 10 plus nationals is way plenty for me. Even at that it's likely I'll just shoot one class this year (semi retirement)
Actually it's very likely I won't even shoot a second target this year, be it agg or shoot off.... haven't seen the 2019 options yet, hopefully there's a one target aggregate option lol.Tom
I mostly agree with this. No matter what you do in life, it seems to be a few bad apples in every bunch. It doesnt matter if its shooting, racing or any other competitions. I guess some are not happy unless they win and some will do whatever it takes to win. I see way more good people at these shoots then I see bad.
My life, the last three years has had some bad bumps along the way. I can never forget the support I had from shooters and members of this forum. When my wife read some of them, she cried. She couldn't believe what some people did and said. That is the part of shooting that makes this sport great.
I mostly shoot at Williamsport and I always try to make everybody have a good time and help them when I can. If anybody wants to try it, they are welcome and I will try to help them or get a gun for them to shoot. Matt
