Ours, (rock chucks) have been out for over a month now. I've been tearin up the ground squirrels pretty bad for a few weekends. jd
JD...time for photos!!!![]()
I've been seeing them in Indiana for a few days also. I'm a farmer and you can tell this mild winter has people ready to go because I've had a couple people texting me this weekend asking of known active holes yet.
Took my 6BR (8twist) out today, along with my 22PPC. Over winter I had a brake put on the BR and bedded it in a 40X stock. I bought some 66 grain Cheeks from the forum, and loaded them on the lands with 32 grains IMR8208. I shot a five shot group that looked like one hole, till i got a wind switch on #5 to directly behind me and got a high hit. Still touching. I think we have a winner. Now to run it over the chronograph, and make a guess on the BC for the Cheek 66 grain FB.
The PPC had a little issue last year...barrel loosened up. I had it torqued down at Hart. I shot a one hole group with it, 50 grain Vmax over a case of Varget.
Mr Chucky is in for a hurtin this year!
Where in Indiana are you? I think ive only seen one in the past six years, or more. And im in the heart of farm country
