I SAW ONE!!!

That is really good, glad to hear they are starting to come out. It seems like it has been a really long winter.

We had about three inches of snow here in S/E Pa. last Friday and the forecast is for mid 70's by this Wednesday. A big, but welcome change.

Yea, saw one today myself here in S/E PA. Gearing up for the 2016 campaign :) Hauling the varmint rifles out of moth balls this week and going to do some practicing and tuning. Probably going to wait on hitting the fields, don't want to shoot a female with pups that are not weaned.

Ours, (rock chucks) have been out for over a month now. I've been tearin up the ground squirrels pretty bad for a few weekends. jd

I've been seeing them in Indiana for a few days also. I'm a farmer and you can tell this mild winter has people ready to go because I've had a couple people texting me this weekend asking of known active holes yet.

I like this better than cherry blossoms! ;)

I will let them do what G-hogs do and hopefully in a bit there will be a bunch more! I like a sustained harvest!

Already! My rock chuck hunt won't happen until July-August, (sigh). Visiting the old homestead in Calif. and I'll be shooting at 10,000+ elevation.

Yep, I've been seeing them here in NW Pa. the last week. While test driving yesterday morning saw a huge one peeking out of hole and getting a little sun. His coat looked great and no mange etc. I hope to be out in next few weeks and give em some lead poisoning!

I am heading to CO in mid-May, then south to grand canyon, then east again into Northern OK, then back to the east coast. Hope this time to at least pop a primer on a PD. If there is anyone out there in these areas that would show a fellow shooter an afternoon of PD's, (22K-Hornet) I would sure be obliged. Not looking for some huge place, just a few and a chance to nail a couple off the bipod. Travelling with teens on a 3 week tour...

JD...time for photos!!! :)

Welp, I think I'mma have to burn some powder this weekend. Planning on taking the Bee, the BR, .222, and a 22 LR. I spose that a digital record of -- unspeakable carnage -- or maybe just a few scenery shots may be in order. Weather is the wild card this weekend. We're getting the 30/30 variety right now. (thirty degrees @thirty miles an hour). I got soaked, and recovered from it about three times today at work. Sometimes it's hard for me to get out and do it again on the weekend.:p jd

probably seen 7-8 last 2 weeks in Mid Tn,,all right beside the road or in a tile,,in the 80`s we could ride the backroads and shoot all we wanted,,they are makin a comeback but with very few crops and coyotes takin over they all live close to houses and roads,,

Took my 6BR (8twist) out today, along with my 22PPC. Over winter I had a brake put on the BR and bedded it in a 40X stock. I bought some 66 grain Cheeks from the forum, and loaded them on the lands with 32 grains IMR8208. I shot a five shot group that looked like one hole, till i got a wind switch on #5 to directly behind me and got a high hit. Still touching. I think we have a winner. Now to run it over the chronograph, and make a guess on the BC for the Cheek 66 grain FB.

The PPC had a little issue last year...barrel loosened up. I had it torqued down at Hart. I shot a one hole group with it, 50 grain Vmax over a case of Varget.

Mr Chucky is in for a hurtin this year!

I am in michigan and they were out the other day when it was 70, i was able to get a couple, had to call everyone i knew and told them about it. earliest i have got any yet.

Here in Oregon, our rock chucks are just starting to emerge. Most of us don't shoot them until the females have dropped the young and they're old enough to take care of themselves, around the middle of April or thereabouts.

Here's an early riser that I spotted near here recently:

He may be in the crosshairs of my 20VT in another month or so........
