I need some opinions

The hard part of selling my buddies stuff is coming up.That being his rifles.I would like opinions on which would sell better ,complete rifles or part them out.He has two real nice f-classers in the bunch. Thank You ! Ralph

I would try complete rifles as a package , with a side note that if multiple buyers can agree on prices, and parts, they may purchase separate.
But that is up to you, and how much work you want to put into it. ( Disassembling, and packing separate, collecting from multiple buyers )

I say give it try (selling complete systems) before tearing down a winning combination to part it out. Yes, in the short run parting out is more profitable however, there is some satisfaction to be gained by survivors knowing that dad's old guns are living on in others hands.

My 2¢. I prefer to pick my own favorite brand and power of scope so a scoped rifle package is not in my universe. Buying a rifle with a scope I don't want just requires me to peddle it. Complete rifle price would depend on condition so 1/2 to 3/4 of new parts. Unknown round count or unknown smith job, less than that. A used barrel or unknown round count on or off the action, add 100 to 75 bucks to the action, trigger and stock formula. Good luck with the sales.

Separate rifle and scope. The only time guys sell those as packages is when they are trying to sweeten a deal or get a quick sale. I would not piece out good rifles.

I have had to deal with this exact issue for 2 friends that have passed in the last 3 years. Here’s how I handled and am in the final stretch of the last friends passing. First and foremost I set up a separate checking account at a bank other than my personal bank. That way all funds received, disbursed to the widow and packing an shipping are accounted for. I removed all the optics from rifles, and removed the rings, them proceeded to sell those items separately. Of six BR rifles he owned I have 1 remains and so far I have given his widow over 17,000.00, I currently have another 1400.00 to send her andI think by the time I am done she will have received about 21,000.00. The other shooter was a shotgun shooter, and in one weekend selling all his reloading equipment I handed his widow 5300.00. His son received his Kreigoff, K-80 with 3 complete different gauge barrels. So there is how I have accomplished helping 2 of my friends wives maximizing their estate value. Not saying its the best way but, its how I did it.
