I just need some opinions............

My delimma is I have a book, signed by one of the most famous shooters of all time. I bought it because the book I had read, of the same title, inspired me to shoot competition. Of course I'm writing about Carlos Hathcock and the book "93 Confirmed". He signed it shortly before his passing. I've met his son at Camp Perry and told him that it was because of reading about his father I was there shooting the Wimbledon Cup. I just can't decide if I should or shouldn't sell it. Yes, the book means a lot to me, but, I know it would mean more to someone else in the military or competitive world. Especially as it only sits on the shelf wrapped in plastic to protect it.

Opinions????

IMHO,
Thinking about how much it would mean to someone else, and Sell it, is kind of an oxymoron.
It would mean ALOT to someone to receive it as a gift. But finding someone deserving and truely appreciative would be the tuff part, :-\
You don't really wanna give it to someone, only to find out THEY sold it.

here is at least some idea of what it might be worth on the used book market:

Thanks Tony. The book they show on Amazon is from the publisher Stein and Day, which is the book I read but not the autographed one. The reason the value is so high on those is that there were only a couple hundred printed before the publisher went bankrupt. The autographed one is from Claymore publishing for the military book club. So actually I have both very sought after copies........ But I'll keep the Stein and Day........

This is the one...........http://www.amazon.com/Marine-Sniper-93-Confirmed-Kills/dp/1886681015/ref=tmm_hrd_title_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1306972751&sr=1-1

I was into shooting pretty good untill about 1 year ago when a gunsmith that I really look up to gave me 4 books that I cherish. I wouldn't let these books go for the world. Save them for some lucky kid that comes to your shop for advice and notices it for what it is. Not for the value but for the history. I have since recieving these books gotten heavly into gunsmithing and now do it for a hobby and job. The books will stay in my private room next to my favorite reloading chair untill I feel like shairing them with the world.

So…you have two copies, one is signed. You want to sell the signed copy; is that right?

LE Hanson

Yes, that's right. The autographed one has been opened three times! Once by Carlos to autograph it, once by my friend to look at the autograph and once by me. It's been wrapped in clear plastic and sitting on the shelf since then.

And thank you for your kind words of wisdom.

Bring it to the next Match and Gift it to a young shooter just starting out. Selling something that has meant/inspired so much to you just ....well ya know doesn't feel right. In the end it's yours do as you wish.
