I need advice.

Hi, Paula -
Could you please provide a little background on the subject of your thread? It is very likely that I would not be able to provide any help, but I would still like to know who John is, the Navy Nationals in Phoenix, etc. Just a paragraph would suffice.
Thank you, and I hope it all ends well.
Alex
I'll PM you.

Thanks. Paula

As a retired Army senior NCO, I will say that the Gunner's actions are not all that uncommon. The military (I'm painting with a very broad brush here) makes a lot of noise about integrity, honesty, ethics, etc. And then everyone (broad brush, once again) lies, cheats, and steals. Yes, definitely report the incident and the Gunner's lack of integrity. If he falsified documents in this instance, what else has he lied about? He has absolutely zero credibility for anything at this point, and every action or decision that he has made needs to be reviewed, starting with his first day on the job. Expecting all of the cadets to lie to cover his lie is despicable.

Just be prepared to live with the consequences of your actions, whatever they may be. There WILL be retribution of some sort.

Paula, I have never been in the military, so I do not know what goes on there. I can say it is or will be if handled correctly a very good life lesson for your son no matter if the team shoots or not. I hope they do. I think your son may be a very good politician some day if he can reflect on this. Would be much better than the shit we have today. Who knows maybe he could be a Donald Trump. Best of luck

Well, my 2 cents.. I was a SSG in the Army, my wife a retired Colonel. We always try do what we believe is right and require those we associate with to do the same. The incident should be reported and then let the chips fall where they may. Just keep John focused on shooting and attending big matches..

Would you elaborate on your comments please? What are you saying about today and our President. Hopefully I'm not reading this right.

Having served in a highly elite Airborne Unit , I'm appalled at some of the comments I've read here from "so-called" prior service personnel . Maybe there really is a more of a difference between Airborne and "Leg" units than I knew . If that's true , then it needs to be tightened up . Quickly . Comments like ; "everyone lies , steals and cheats in the military" , are repulsive and disgusting to everyone who took the oath , and did their duty . And the Marines I've known would place a size 12 in the appropriate area of this pathetic POS for even suggesting what this poor excuse for a Non-Com has done . Turn him in . Do it now ....This clown shouldn't be anywhere near young people whose ideologies and integrity are being formed .

I am in total agreement with DirtySteve , and he covered it very good . "All the Way" .......

^ lol you drank the cool aid.

Edit: I deleted my original response. I’ll play nice. Watch who you call a leg. Did 2 deployments out of that stupid place. Don’t worry we didn’t have any x3s before we deployed. I know how that bothers you JM types.

Have never been in the military but do have Respect for ALL who have served. On a completely different issue between My Son and another family member who had made a statement about me. My Son Replied " one thing for sure, MY Daddy will always do what is right". I have fallen short many times in this world. But that was without a doubt the proudest moment in My Life. Do what is right. There is No Choice. The honest student may suffer, but He will NEVER Lose

Safe shooting

Wow. There is nothing much I can say that has not already been said.

This “instructor” needs to be given the boot. He has nothing good to offer these young people. Falsifying targets and documents........sounds like it is more about him than anything else.

Everyone agrees the lie must be exposed. Get with the other parents for support. There will be reaction within the kids hopefully supportive, but be prepared for negative action may be directed against John for doing the right thing.

Inaccurate statement "Everyone lies, cheats and steals."! BS ! You may lie, steal and cheat but make THAT statement. Not that everyone does. Also the "WILL be retribution" is exaggerated. That is not something that can be stated as fact.

I would do more than report him. He has disgraced himself and the Corps by his actions. He needs a blanket party IMO

Obviously, there are a number of people who are not familiar with the term 'to paint with a broad brush.'

When I stated that I was painting with a broad brush about lack of integrity in the military, that means that this situation does not exist in every situation or individual. The vast majority of service members are honest, and do their utmost to uphold the standards of their respective service. And then there are the rest. When uncovered and officially reported, integrity violations are punished severely - as they should be. My point is that in my personal experience, integrity violations are all too often swept under the rug or ignored - sometimes even encouraged. During my career I saw entirely too many instances of senior officers and NCOs who tolerated this conduct. While uncommon, it is certainly not unknown. To say otherwise is to ignore the truth.

To 300whisper : I made the damn Kool-Aid . To bad you didn't drink any of it . Two and 1/2 tours in the Central Highlands gives me the right to call out any low-life trying to teach young people to lie , cheat steal , or violate their integrity . And anyone who attempts to rationalize that behavior needs to reflect upon their own standards and conduct . Certainly their own level of personnel integrity . Ranger Up !
