I need a cleaning rod!

The Tipton carbon fiber rod I'm using has a:

Shaft length is 44-1/2"

Overall length (including handle) is 51"

I need one that is 4" longer. The handle hits the recoil pad, and is 4" to short to make it out the barrel without bending it all squee-hawd to finsh the pass. I have a 30" barrel.

Can you recommend a quality rod for me? Thank you.

I've had good luck with these Proof positive rods from Boretech. I also have the Proof Positive jags that don't turn blue from the solvents. Lots of long rods. I have one for 6mm and another for 7mm+. Mine are long enough to exit a 32 inch barrel without touching the butt of the stock. The 6mm is plenty stiff even at that length.

I just got 3 rods from Boretech myself along with their jags, excellent quality....my .284 rod is 54" for a 30" barrel plus tuner.

I agree with Jim Ohara. I've had two Ivy rods for several years now, and they work great. Include a TK Nolan bore guide and you have the best setup available.

I got the Boretech and it's a larger diameter than all my jags. It also won't fit in the insert in my Lucas bore guide.

Am I missing something?

Not sure but maybe Boretech's rod is priority to their jags. You are going to need a new insert with a larger ID. Call Mike and tell him which rod you are using and he will get you the right insert.
