I need a bullet puller

Thanks for the help guys.

With either the Forster or the Hornady, i need to toss the bullet?

Anytime you put pressure on a bullet jacket you risk core seperation. You can see it on target if you got a gun shooting good enough to see it. You can even find one dropped on the concrete floor. For general shooting or fireforming theyll be fine.

I have used them all,,,with good results,,,most of the time I reach for the Davidson "plier" type puller,,,quick, simple ,no wasted or dumped powder, no damage to the bullet,,,Roger

Thanks for looking.

I need to pull some bullets out of some loads that I didn't size properly, and have no mechanism to do so without destroying something. I'd like to re-use the bullets.

What's the best tool for this job?
I've had my Quinetics hammer puller for so long I cant remember when I bought it, maybe 30 some years ago.....only ever had to replace the collet retainer with a rubber O Ring.....works great and is fast, is gentle on bullets if you use care.

I have both the Forster collet type and the Quinetics hammer puller. I like them both but the hammer is fast to use for just a quick couple of pull downs. Early on, the hammers aluminum 3 pc. segmented collet failed with the rim grip ears shearing off. The mfg. wanted $15.00 for a replacement. BS....I made one out of steel. It will never break.View attachment 1040955
Mine did the same thing (RCBS) I have not called them to see what they want for new ones. Intrested to no how you made yours?

Collet puller. Cheap and easy. I gave my hammer style puller away after I got the RCBS collet puller. I didn't give it to a friend either. Messy. --Jerry

Well, for a machinist (retired) it was an easy project. Reverse engineer technology.;) Made from mild 1018 steel. Mostly lathe work. The 120 degree slices done with a thin slitting saw and rotary table on a knee mill. I bought that hammer around '85.

I guess that lets me out(I can't put batteries in a flashlight).....LOL

I have the RCBS collet and a hammer style inertia. The collet will leave a slight indentation on the jacket which does not seem to have any effect on accuracy. With the hammer puller I just put a wad of foam in the bottom of the puller to cushion the bullet from hitting the end and it comes out with zero damage. Both work well

I use the hammer. I put a small piece of scotchbrite (sp) in the bottom so the point doesn't get driven hard into the bottom.
