Thanks for the help guys.
With either the Forster or the Hornady, i need to toss the bullet?
I've had my Quinetics hammer puller for so long I cant remember when I bought it, maybe 30 some years ago.....only ever had to replace the collet retainer with a rubber O Ring.....works great and is fast, is gentle on bullets if you use care. Thanks for looking.
I need to pull some bullets out of some loads that I didn't size properly, and have no mechanism to do so without destroying something. I'd like to re-use the bullets.
What's the best tool for this job?
same thing I've been playing with,,you have to have a good grip,,and be careful with lead bullets.."Grip- n -Pull" bullet puller
Mine did the same thing (RCBS) I have not called them to see what they want for new ones. Intrested to no how you made yours?I have both the Forster collet type and the Quinetics hammer puller. I like them both but the hammer is fast to use for just a quick couple of pull downs. Early on, the hammers aluminum 3 pc. segmented collet failed with the rim grip ears shearing off. The mfg. wanted $15.00 for a replacement. BS....I made one out of steel. It will never break.View attachment 1040955
I've had an RCBS collet for decades - from back when it was the only one available here - and I hate it. You need three hands -
I saw one of the cam lock ones a while back & wished they were around when I bought mine.
- one to lever the bullet into position
- one to hold the sleeve (?body)
- one to turn the lock lever
but those old loads, that are neck welded, will take maximum pressure and bullets are only good for foulers, if that.

I guess that lets me out(I can't put batteries in a flashlight).....LOLWell, for a machinist (retired) it was an easy project. Reverse engineer technology.Made from mild 1018 steel. Mostly lathe work. The 120 degree slices done with a thin slitting saw and rotary table on a knee mill. I bought that hammer around '85.
That made me laugh for ten minutes...easy to amuseDon't you have three handed mates down there?
