I LIVE IN NEW YORK STATE/LAST DAY TO REGISTER?

Remember this and then make the best decision for yourself.

First, Hitler had all the firearms registered, touting the streets will be safer, the police will be able to perform their jobs better, etc. He then, 2 years later proceeded to remove the weapons from the citizens whom had registered them. And then we all know what happened after that.

There is a reason for the second amendment, it has nothing to do with protecting you from burglars, it is there to assure that when the government becomes tyrannical, the citizens will have the ability to resist said government.

I personally would have to think very hard about complying with NY's demands.

A weapon that is unregistered, is a weapon that no one but the owner needs to know exists and as long as you're using them for lawful reasons, I urge you to find a safe place to keep them hid and keep very quite about it. I live in PA and I don't trust them not to follow NY and CA.

Jon , just move , you will be surprised how little you miss it....... The whole north east is nothing like it was or ever will be again...... I did with very little money and could not be happier!

Jon,
So sorry to hear about the tragic boating accident where all your firearms were lost overboard, guess you won't need to worry about it anymore :-)

Wondering Jon if there isn't some (temporary) way to convert your whatever into say a single shot with some other kind of plain jane stock? Just a thought.

I have a hard time believing the state has the resources, or even the actual intent to actually enforce the law. Tennessee can't even collect sales tax, I can't imagine NY is any better.

Last day is over. Are you a felon? :-X
Those that think it cannot happen should look at the NFA acts of 34, 68, 86 and some atf "determinations". Hey the patriot act is keeping you safe too. Too bad 99.9% have no clue what that intails.
Good luck!

As I mentioned before on these forums, I moved out of NY 34 years ago when I was 24. I own a number of rifles and handguns now, having to do nothing more then show a drivers license and go through the standard brady background check here in Houston, TX. I have been in possession of a CHL for 20 years now too. I 'm also taxed a whole lot less, face much lower living costs, and am surrounded here in Texas by a whole lot more God Fearing, conservative, like minded thinking and voting people then I ever experienced in NY.

Have you heard anybody here yet say they moved out of NY and now miss it? To live uneasy in fear and NEVER be able to take your rifle out and shoot it freely as you use to do without fearing of being caught is NOT a way to live. We are facing retirement in a few short years and are considering moving out of state where it's not so hot and humid much of the year. My wife knows I will NEVER move anywhere that I have to give up my AR rifles or my CHL rights. It's that important to me, and she understands. You need to weigh just how important it is to you.

But, that's the way I think, and you need to do what you think is best for you.

Riddle: Why do Ukranians pour drain oil into their flowerbeds?

Answer: To keep the guns from rusting!

Unfortunately, moving won't change this NY politician: http://news.yahoo.com/michael-bloomberg-starting-gun-control-organization-nra-041339209.html

Bloomberg is a blowhard and wont garner enough members to do any real damage. After he rallied and read all the names of people that were murdered by guns he read the boston bombers name as a victim.

...as well as "victims" who were shot by police in self-defense.

John Register your pistols , then modify your semis to be compliant.

Its easy for People to give advise if they don't live in NEW YORK.

For those who do Not Know NEW YORK STATE is ruled by NEW YORK city Politics."'

It happening in Colorado too"

Down State { the city} has 3/4 of all votes in the state we are out voted.

If you fail to register your pistols and un modified AR 15s One provision states they can confiscate All of your firearms""'

Interesting Podcast link to Madison talk show host Vicki McKenna talking about Bloomberg on her show yesterday. Hour two, starts at the 19 minute mark.

Should give you some hope Jon.

+1 on GerryM's comment. Although, I don't like to agree with it. A hefty fine or confiscation or possibly Jail time would be a hard thing for a family man to face. I would bide my time do the minimum to keep me legal and then move at my first chance.

To add to the above, a firearms related conviction, would probably make it pretty tuff to obtain guns again. At least legally!

The podcast was very interesting to say the least.I am assuming she is from madison wisconsin.

Come on out to PA Jon. My wife and I have a big house, with lots of room.
Pa. is surrounded by non user friendly states , and are controlled by how the two or three urban areas vote. It is kinda like New York and I am sure if they accidently vote in the wrong governor will be in the same boat........
