If ammunition manufacturers didn't come out with something new every year people would say that the industry was getting stagnant. Do we need anything new ?? No. But you have to admit most people want something new, regardless if it grossly overlaps other older cartridges.
Whether you love or hate Hornady, at least they keep the old oddball and classic cartridges alive unlike other manufacturers.
BTW...The 17 Flea Fart using a 80gr bullet w/78grs 24N41 is high on my list ( I said it First).

At some point, as some gain experience shooting, they will discover the simple fact that within reason, the caliber and paper ballistics are not the issue for success, it's developing one's marksmanship skill that is the difference maker.

This is hard to accept for those who believe you can buy your way into success without dedicated training and practice - i.e., hard work.

All joke aside you need a 6.5 cartridge for the AR, a 260 Remington and 6.5 x 55 for bolt guns.

Serious note: I have both a bolt gun and AR-10 in 260 Rem, and a 6.5-284 bolt gun. Did NOT feel the need to stroke my ego and spend a grand to make some minor variant of a six-point-five with custom dies and reamers.
My idea would be top make some major improvement in terms of velocity to a caliber.

Forty-plus years ago I took the 6.5-68mm Shuler necked it down, and improved the shoulder angle, decreased the body taper and created the 257 Banshee. 110gr Fowler SP's at 4000fps. I consider that a worth while design. And, finally the past two years we are getting high BC designs to fill its' potential.
