as if I did not tempt fate with the Dodge; let me relate Part II.
A couple years later (about a week after Thanksgiving, 2008) she went to this big fedguv thingie in Baltimore to give a one year followup keynote address to some new regulations that were tested in Idaho.
I go to some of these, but the USPS had just retired me due to my third surgery related to my favorite souvenir from three tours in RVN; Agent Orange.
I take the Dodge to the airport to pick her and her staff, then drop them off at their office and head home. As we pull into the driveway, I hit the garage door opener. She looks into the garage and there is this used Jaguar XK-8 convertible sitting in there. Yes, eight years old, but still a shape similar to the original XK-E's. Beautiful car, Anthracite Gray. A friend from church is a salesman at the Jag dealer. He set me up with a super price.
It took a little longer to work out the details on that one...
I am still married, and I still have the car.
Thank You Lord.
