I got sidetracked-

I've been setting in this same spot for 24 years and have never seen a coon other than by my chicken coop in a trap..

So at 4:35 I see a big coon running past me in that big opening out front, 80 yards out and quickly get the pistol headed for the smaller opening on the right...
A leaning Red Oak is on the left of the little opening and darned if that coon didnt run part way up it and stop.. I got the dot on it and touched the Jewell and I see the coon go down, and when I looked up, I see it going right back up the tree again-WTH- Slide another one in the chamber and touched the Jewell again and saw it go down again.. Slide another one in just in case, but it didn't go back up again.. I worked my way out of the condo and onto the 4 wheeler and drove over to the opening. I swear on a bible I didn't set the photo up either, this is what I saw when I got there...... I just leaned over and took the photo....

No problem at all Glenn, but I'm supposed to be up there all nice and quit waiting on Grandpa to show up so I can fill my NYS buck tag, not shooting coons with my 25/284 XP-100 loaded with 115 VLD's...
Today it was back to keeping a eye on the buck bait in case grandpa comes to visit.....

I envy your shooting post. I hope you have a lazy-boy in there and a Mr. Buddy heater. I could hang out all day with that kind of set-up.

I'm setting on a bit over 40 acres of hardwood timber I've owned for a long time right behind the house, with more on the way, hopefully by next fall..
I set on a old ice fishing swivel seat, I'm afraid if I had a lazy boy up there I would be napping a lot of time and missing that 9 second chance. The far side of that green field where the girls are is 198 yards to the big Maple..
Here's a shot of grandpa this fall, you can see the condo in the background just over his right G2..
He's what keeps me up there 9 hours a day, every day...

Nice set up too. Who says hunting has to be uncomforatable... Any chance that barrel on the pistol is the one I sold you??? Hope it is grandpa's demise!

Coleridge-- Thats a old Lilja barrel I chambered for the 25-284 in one of my rear grip XP-100's, yours is still in the wings waiting for this one to wear out, and X3M hunter is just messing with you
Nothing moving all day till 4:45 when 3 does came out, nasty wet snowy day and they were all under cover, maybe today will be better....

Jon- It's a easy 2 hour drive...
Grandpa never showed up but lots of fat little butterballs did.
They were moving a lot yesterday, all day long feeding between naps.
This cold snap and the snow will keep them moving...
Maybe Grandpa will show up today....
