I don’t like the looks of this…

I bought this FL sizer several months ago, but only breaking it out today to set it up for the first time….a quick glance inside the die showed an awful lot of scratches(?)….this picture doesn’t come close to showing what I can see in person…compared it to my other dies from this same manufacturer-older dies are finished completely differently and appear quite polished

Doesnt look very high quality does it? Can you feel the scratches with a pic or bent paperclip?

New die? Try a case and if ng send it back to the maker.

If you haven't already done so, wrap a big (3") cleaning patch or two around a large bore brush or mop, soak it with some solvent, run it up into the die and agitate to clean the insides. It may just be dust and debris. Not a big chore compared to bigger corrective actions. Just sayin...

Manufacturers always tell you to clean the die before use. Try that and it may look a lot better. They put some type of rust preventative on them.

If this scares you, don’t ever chuck a hardened sizing die up and stick a indicator stylus in it.

JB bore bright , bore mop, cleaning patch, (cotton) and a drill does a good job of removing small scratches, nothing deep. If deep send it back.

I'd throw it out; but first take the split lock ring off and send it to me. jd
