Hurricane Laura

...... 1 million plus acres of corn destroyed, not to mention the property damage, and nothing but crickets from the "news media".......
If it doesn't happen in a big city, it's not worth notice. After all, no reporter wants to slum it in the Hampton Inn.

I'm in Spring, TX (north Houston) not a drop of rain and barley any wind over night and early morning. Pretty much a nothing burger for us in Houston. I've lived in Lake Charles which really got about the worst of this storm. I've also lived in Lafayette and still have family there. All are OK this morning. As Jackie commented, we are 'experienced'.

Yesterday afternoon, one band kinda broke off and went north of town. My brother lives a mile or two from the horse track. He said a couple light showers came through.

Retired staff claims manager here. I don't miss hanging on every weather report and workloads going from 80 cases to 2000 per adjuster overnight.
I'm not sure how they did it when you were working but I know now that staff adjuster don't climb over 7/12 slopes (liability) but all us independent adjuster they care nothing for, we're a number so go climb that 12/12 and get the report in yesterday! ;-)

I've worked a lot all over TX, the floods in Houston in '17 was something else. I also worked flood in '16 in LA, just a mess.

Yep. I want to see your toes in the photos.
I never left the office the last 15 years or so before I retired. But I have a lasting appreciation for storm troopers looking at damage as long as there is daylight and working on reports all night. A very committed group of guys/gals.
