I just recieved my new hs precision stock in the mail, right away i noticed they got the " web" finish all over the rear tang area. I had you use fine grit sand paper to gently and lightly rub over the tang to completely remove it to expose the aluminum tang. Question is when i tighten the recoil lug screw the rear tang of the receiver isnt touching the stock unless i screw it in drawing the reciever to the aluminum. Is this something i need to be worried about???

Yea but if i bed it then factory warranty is void, really dont wanna do that ya know. Just worried if i drawed it down it might put stress on the action... idk maybe im overthinking it and should just torque it down and shoot it.
The HS Precision stocks use an aluminum V-block style mounting system where the block meets the action at two lines down each side. Because the tang tapers off from the action cylinder, at some point the lines of contact break off. This leaves the tang basically hanging in space. Tightening it up results in a bending stress in the action. Best to skim bed it--at least in the tang area. Otherwise, touque the front action screw and just snug the rear.
I have marine-tex left over from a previous project. Prob just enough to bed the tang. Its gunna void warranty though.
Should i just put some marine tex under tang and torque action screw to 65in lbs and leave reat tang screw out and leave it set like that?

Id bed the whole thing right. Who ever heard of a stock warranty? Who ever would have a gun that isnt right but have peace of mind on a warranty?

If it was mine I would torque to hs specs and shoot it.Then go from there what you got to loose?If it works then you will have a stock that you can use on other rifles later on if you want to.The reason fir me to buy a stock with an aluminum bedding block in the first place.Can always bed it later if you want also.
Sqrlgtr, its only sticking up like .020 and thats a maybe. I said im not sure if thats enough to cause stress on reciever and scope mounts. Exactly i bought that one so i could just drop in bolt on and go. If i wanted to go the whole bedding route again id have picked something else. Heck who knows maybe the stock is straight and my reciever is bent. Lol that would be my luck...

Yea. Don't worry about stock warranty. My HS stock is modified with a badger front block for night vision attachment. It was all beat up when I bought it from previous owner. Was krylon painted. It look bad. Sent it to HS to get it redone. It's fully bedded. HS Precision didn't care off all the mods to it. Got it repainted by them and they replaced the adjustable LOP gear all for $125 - $150 if I remember correctly. 243lapua

At one time midway had some shim washers they sold to take up space in cases like that. Might be worth it to you.

Why do you think HS doesn't know what they are doing? They made the damn stock and have a good reputation for accurate rifles. Follow their instructions and shoot it. If it doesn't perform to your standard and you have exhausted all the normal fixes, you can modify it as you think necessary. Savage tangs are supposed to float.

Yes we do. If you troll around the shop's WS it's listed. It's not specific to any particular brand of stock because we can do it to just about anything.
