As a sling shooter, I want a spotter big enough to see through my spotting scope, but no larger. The comments regarding sling shooters wanting / needing larger spotters than F shooters make no sense, to me. We’re all looking at the target with optics. To sling shooters...Palma, etc: As an F Class shooter, I am curious - Does the size of the spotter come into play in your sight picture? I've heard at least one sling shooter comment they's be content with golf tees... I can only imagine that a large disc, in the wrong place (at the edge of the aiming black) would be at least a distraction, or worse.
Also, to answer the question, I find a large spotter can be distracting, but not at the edge, rather, ~almost~ in the middle. Match rifle sights are circle in circle in circle. A fourth, slightly off center circle, is distracting. It also means I’m looking at the target...bad Doug.To sling shooters...Palma, etc: As an F Class shooter, I am curious - Does the size of the spotter come into play in your sight picture? ChrisThat may be the rule but nobody is using a spotter that is the same size as the x ring.
when I was shooting irons or even a 4.5x Service Rifle optic it didn't really matter much but since I switched over to a 15x scope on my match rifle I wouldn't mind a 1 inch spotter. if the 3 inch spotter is on the 3oclock line of the x ring its easy to gravitate over to it if your not careful. To sling shooters...Palma, etc: As an F Class shooter, I am curious - Does the size of the spotter come into play in your sight picture? And, on that point, it's pretty damn sad that the appropriate sized spotters were not available to every shooter on the line. At a National Championship no less. They miraculously appeared

I've shot 600 yard matches at many ranges, can't remember one where a 1.5" spotter was not available.
