Howa Mini Action

Jard have no explanation as to why the mini rifle trigger is different to the standard Howa. Ill buy Timney.
As for stocks, I bought my mini with the greem plastic thing. Changed to an MDT. No improvement in accuracy. Ie, the original horror shot OK. Very stable and pillar bedded, sort of.

Next time round, 6 ARC, perhaps, Ill get the barreled action and eithe the Aussie Southern Cross or Oryx chassis

I have never owned a Jard trigger. Heard good and bad.

I have however owned Timney triggers in various rifles and have never been impressed in the least with any of them. I’ve always found that they were a waste of money and I might as well stayed with the factory trigger. Same thoughts on Rifle Basix triggers.

The Jard is an option for the mini and I know I don’t like Timney so the plan is to finally try Jard.

In other rifles, I pretty much only use Bixn’ Andy when possible

I currently own one Rifle Basix. Very difficult to get right on my Remington FTR 308. I do have a Shilen in the cupboard, but it does not have the bolt release. I should look at the Bix n Andy. A mate has a Rifle Basix on a Howa FTR. Very nice, which is why I got one for the Remmy.

Jewell HVRTSBR was my favorite trigger until I tried a BnA TacSport PRO trigger. The BnA are awesome triggers with sealed housings and ball bearing sears. Virtually no maintenance required for super consistent and ultra reliable performance.

only thing I didn’t like about the TacSport is the safety that requires a person to push it out to the side to release the safety. Would require extra stock in letting on the safety lever clearance if you left it that way. But you just remove the pin and it cycles straight back and forth like a normal 700 safety so I always remove the pin.

I still really like Jewell triggers when I need a bottom trigger guard mounted safety

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I had a quick question that I didn't want to make a new post for. I'm more of a rimfire guy, and this is my first time venturing into upgrading a centerfire bolt gun.

I have a mini Howa in .223 and was thinking about rebarreling it. Does the mini action take the same barrels as the normal Howa 1500's? I saw Shilen has a barrel with the alternut system and was considering that one.

Thanks

No, the mini has a smaller tenon.

Preferred Barrels makes nut jobs for the mini. They are a fairly clean rig. FYI their barrels clean up easy and are good shooters.

Thank you, I was also looking at the Preferred ones. I'll probably just go with them when I'm ready
