Space saving!!Technically, I'd say vertical but realistically...show me why.![]()
That is correct for right handed rifling. For left handed rifling they need to be oriented toward the South Pole. They should be stored horizontally and parallel with magnetic north. This way the atoms in the barrel self align with the bore and preserve its stress relieving properties.
Back in 1980, I worked in a hardware store that was part of a farm implement dealer. A crazy story got started somewhere, and even made the local tv news. Supposedly if you taped a couple cow magnets to your fuel line on your car, that it would increase your fuel mileage. Lots of people fell for it, and there was instantly a major shortage of cow magnets. We couldn’t get enough them for stock, people were asking for them daily. That reminds me of the time I was at the State Fair and a woman was selling magnetic bracelets - she said that the magnetic properties of the bracelet caused the red blood cells to get in single file order to get through the blood vessels better!
Same happened in Kansas during the early 80s as well. It was all the rage,Back in 1980, I worked in a hardware store that was part of a farm implement dealer. Depends maybe on what material the barrel is made of stainless or other materials. You are all wrong. They should be stored vertically with the muzzle down. Let gravity condition the bore so bullits will fly true and straight. Don't want any of the horizontal mumbojumbo feom my barrels.
