How to store rifle barrel blanks?

I think this question has been brought up before. I store some horizontally (north/south) under the bench in the reloading room. Some are stored horizontally under the bench in the machine room. Some are stored on the chip tray of the lathe (this is short-term storage; usually a month or less). Some are leaned up in the corner of the gun rack. Some are leaned up in the corner in the vault. Often, I'll root around in the various locations, just to see what I have. WH

Christ on a cara,,,carro,,, bah, Mohammed on a merry-go-round, with all this disinformation, I feel compelled to chime in.
Regarding barrel orientation and magnetic fields, if looked at scientifically: The Directions East and West both have four letters, four being an even number and the Directions North and South both have five letters, five being an odd number. therefore with a right handed twist, having an odd number of letters and a left handed twist having an even number of letters, and Right and Left being Directions also,
we can correctly deduce which way to face barrels during storage. We learned about this with pyramids and razor blades back in the 70's ,,,

There are two types of people in this World. Those who can extrapolate from missing data,,

That reminds me of the time I was at the State Fair and a woman was selling magnetic bracelets - she said that the magnetic properties of the bracelet caused the red blood cells to get in single file order to get through the blood vessels better!
Back in 1980, I worked in a hardware store that was part of a farm implement dealer. A crazy story got started somewhere, and even made the local tv news. Supposedly if you taped a couple cow magnets to your fuel line on your car, that it would increase your fuel mileage. Lots of people fell for it, and there was instantly a major shortage of cow magnets. We couldn’t get enough them for stock, people were asking for them daily.

Either "on end" or FLAT!!
In my younger days, paid a visit to a HOT ROD machine shop.
Was shown how a crank shaft would "take a bend" if not stood on end.
Laid on it's side then set in the crank bearings and spun.
Stood on end then spun in the same bearings. :)
There IS a difference.

Same happened in Kansas during the early 80s as well. It was all the rage, :D

You are all wrong. They should be stored vertically with the muzzle down. Let gravity condition the bore so bullits will fly true and straight. Don't want any of the horizontal mumbojumbo feom my barrels.
Depends maybe on what material the barrel is made of stainless or other materials.
