How to shoot prone

I want to do a new rifle to shoot in some local long range club matches. The rifle needs to be light enough to carry ( hunter class ) and shoot off a bi-pod. What does the stock need to look like, high comb, adjustable, what about grip angle ? Is it better to have the scope set high or as low as possible? Should the scope be pushed forward in the rings or be pulled back toward your eye? What stock should I buy, nothing too star wars looking no thumb holes. " hunter class look " also I am left handed. Thanks Jon

Jon,

The best bet is to attend a match and look at the various rifles and stock styles. You can talk to the shooters (after the match) and get their thoughts on equipment etc.

One or more will probably let you lay behind their gear and see what you think.

You could also see if there are any used rifles for sale. That is a whole lot cheaper than building new and if you don't get hooked, you can always sell it.

Just my .02 worth.

Bob

Best idea,
Go to a match.
Find out when the better shooter practice.
Arrange a meeting so you can get behind their rifle. Most shooters will share.
Try it, you may like it!
