How to get consistent results with Giraud Trimmer.

Just got my Giraud trimmer in yesterday and trimmed a few hundred pieces of .223 brass last night. Are you guys rotating the case as you cut? It seems like I have to in order to get a even chamfer around the case mouth. I think I am going to really like this thing once I get it dialed in!!

Neck well thickness variation and case mouth runout play a big part in getting the cut even all the way around the mouth. your brass has to be straight ! If you are cutting LC brass it will never be even. My method is to push down and give the case a 1/4 turn, then pull the case out of the die rotate 90 degrees, push it down and give a 1/4 turn. that makes them as even as possible.

I rotate it about 180 or so. But I've found that trying to hold the case without any favor to one side or another is more helpful.

Mine is set up for .223, and it cuts +/- .001. That agressive case mouth chamfer used to spook me when I first saw the Giraud in action. But now, I couldn't live without it.

If you end up using it for multiple calibers. Which you will eventually. You can use a standard reloading die lock ring to set the shellholder with. Once set, just thread it on and off as needed.
