How to do a glue in ?

Hey we all know how to do a stress free piller bedding job. BUT What about doing a screwless stress free glue in on a benchrest action?
how do you go about it?

Thanks for any help.

Just making a post so I can follow the thread, I am interested my self, just hadn't asked yet.

I have never done one but have asked around and the most trustworthy guy at the range wraps the rec with electrical tape, and then does a prelim bedding job with release agent on the tape. Then once the prelim bedding has set for a few days he does the final bedding with the tape removed. The thickness of the tape is gives you some depth for the glue.

Be sure to clean all the bedding compound off the prelim bedding surfaces. Might even want to rough up the surfaces for good bite.

Support the bbl in the forend like you would a pillar job.

I guess you could put tape on the sides of the rec as reference points to make sure you have the rec pushed down into the final bedding the proper amount.

well im going to do it..i glued my 6br action in but it was after i had piller beded it..
i guess i will have to spin the barrel off to remove the tape on the barrel..

I guess i should leave like 1/6 inch front of action and on each side of the trigger hanger for the action to rest on.
the relieve about a 1/8 every where else to apply the epoxy. that way it wont run out into the barrel chanel or hanger channel..

seems like you can not get good info on bedding, is it nobody knows ? or is it a garded secret?
a very well know builder told me its real easy. no big deal..but did not give me detailed instructions either..lol...

I know if you don't use enough release agent, you action will be real tough to brake loose and probably mess up the bedding.
So with that in mind, bed like normal with lots of release agent. Pull the action after the bedding dries "real good" and clean up the edges. Sand the dry bedding (a little) to rough it up a bit and remove "all" the release agent from the action. Rebed the "clean" action with a thin skim coat and you should be good to go. Don't think it will be coming loose anytime soon. ;)
