How "tight" does a Bbl. have to be tightened ?

I have a very precise method of obtaining proper barrel torque. I have a 16" barrel wrench and I then slide over a 30" cheater bar piece of black pipe, then give it some muscle until a fart squeeks out of my butt and i'm torqued to exactly 63 ft./lb .

This is spot on.

A guy at BAT machine told me 70 ft lbs.

If farting and sharting are happening at 60-63 ft. lbs. 70 ft. lbs?????........uh oh. Use a nose plug if you visit BAT

I recently took a factory barrel off a model 7. It was held on with Loctite. That may account for all the stress in getting the barrel off.
I have a 1/2 x 2"x 12" aluminum bar that goes in the loading port of my Barnards. 1 whack works just fine going on or off. I do use a light coat of Never-Seize on the threads.

I just about had to stand on the action wrench to remove the 6.5 x 47 bbl. that came on my Tubb 2000. I put a 6mm BR bbl. on it at 50 foot pounds, and it HAMMERS.

The barrel should come to an abrupt stop on the receiver and then I use a two pound hammer wacked from a distance of one foot one time on the action wrench. Works for me, not too tight , never had one come loose.
