How often do you scout a potenial hunting area

I’ve hunted places were deer were so sensitive that you scouted after the season, noting the trails and bedding areas and planned accordingly.

Other places with no or low pressure the deer were more tolerant.
My area has been getting a lot of guys cutting blow downs and dead stuff for firewood using FS permits, I think it’s pushed the Elk back in quite a ways further than I can get due to physical conditions , after hiking for even short periods of time. I spend several days with my cane.
I’m not sure how much longer I’ll be able to hike and hunt at all.

Jim you are doing better than me, I can hardly walk around the back yard now. Put the canes away but may need to dig them out pretty soon.

It gets tougher every day. Lol Like you I was a hard working man earning a living for a family, no regrets for doing my job but if I had it to do over I would have stayed in school.

2 full time jobs, for a lot of years, both physically challenging, so sooner or later something is going to break.
Now most of the repairs need to be repaired.

I took the ( teenage) boys out deer hunting yesterday morning, I told them to lead the way be careful and hunt SLOW to not miss seeing game. Well those boys looked more like solder's marching then guys hunting but at least I had a good time staying back a couple hundred yards getting a few photos of bear activity I’ve been looking for and this guy is big enough to rip old stumps in half. I had a feeling he was in this area and I was right.

Hoorah ‘ it just started snowing here at the cabin, it’s time to get serious about that hill top hunting. I’m at 2900 so I’ll bet it’s coming down heavily at 4000. ~ hopefully I can get up there without wrecking myself. Lol

Just to add a couple thoughts from the scouting we’ve done , the majority of game has been in lower areas as the hills are really dry and water is kinda scarce, my grandson found his in the low lands near flower creek. I’ll be taking a chance hunting the higher ground but oh well no risk it no biscuits

24 degrees with fresh snow on the ground, I’m sitting by my stove today. Heck with it..,

I got off my sorry butt this afternoon and hunted about a half mile above the area I had seen activity earlier and came across my old buddy mr. Black Bear, the tracks had a light crust, I’m not sure if late night or early morning but I tracked him for while until he went through a logged off / replanted area towards the timber below.
Now I know where he’s been hiding and a fresh snow coming tomorrow maybe I’ll get lucky.

Well I can’t seem to get a black bear in my sights, but I will share what my Daughter came across today while up the mountain a ways.
Momma Grizzly and cub.. needless to say she decided to hunt a different area.
